Raye first attracted Nashville's attention as the lead vocalist on a string of independent singles in the 1980s. Billed as The Wrays, the act released a couple of singles on Mercury Records in the mid-80s before breaking up. Epic Records signed Raye as a solo act in 1990. A year later, the nostalgic ballad Love, Me hit No. 1, and by 2000, he charted 21 Top 10 hits for Epic. His first four studio albums, as well as his Greatest Hits, have been certified platinum. His best-known hits include Little Rock, about a recovering alcoholic, and I Think About You, about watching his teenage daughter grow up.
All My Roads
Collin Raye Lyrics

Where I stand tonight
I wouldn't change
A thing about my life
Wrong turns I
Had to take back
In those crazy years
Could not have been mistakes
Cause all my roads
Have led me to
This night, this love
I share with you
And though the road
Was never smooth
Life has made me someone who
Could be the right someone for you
I don't regret
A single broken heart
That taught me what love is
And what it's not
Someone must have planned
Our two paths would cross
I couldn't see it then
But I was never lost
Cause all my roads
Detours, dead ends,
Endless explorations
You were my only destination
Cause all my roads..
The lyrics of Collin Raye's "All My Roads" reflect a sense of reflection on the past and an acknowledgement that every choice and struggle has brought you to where you are today. The first verse of the song sets the tone for this introspection, with the singer stating that they wouldn't change a thing about their life, even the wrong turns they had to take. The lyrics suggest that these missteps weren't mere mistakes, but rather crucial parts of their journey that have brought them to where they are now. The singer then goes on to say that all of their roads have led them to the love they share with their partner, and that despite the difficulties they've faced, life has shaped them into someone who is right for that person.
The second verse of the song expands on this theme, with the singer stating that they don't regret any of their past heartbreaks because these experiences have taught them what love is (and what it's not). They suggest that fate played a part in their meeting with their partner, and that even when they couldn't see the bigger picture, they were never truly lost. The final two lines reiterate the chorus, with the singer saying that all of their roads have led them to this one person.
"All My Roads" is a reflective, introspective song that acknowledges the hardships we all face in life, but also suggests that these struggles help shape us into the person we are meant to become. It encourages us to embrace our past and all of the roads we've traveled, in the knowledge that every decision and challenge has brought us to where we are today.
