Originally from Detroit, Michigan, the six original members were Keith Staten, Fred Hammond, Mitchell Jones, Karl Reid, Michael Brooks, and Michael Williams. In 1991 Staten and Brooks left the group and were replaced by Marvin Sapp, Maxx Frank, and Eddie Howard, Jr.. By 1994 Howard had left the group and Williams left a year later. Hammond also left to pursue a career with the group Radical For Christ. He was replaced by Montrell Darrett. By 2000, Marcus Cole and Chris Poole had taken the place of Sapp and Darrett on the group's last studio album. In 2002 Commissioned released a reunion album which brought back most of the group's former members and featured most of its greatest hits. The group performed live on stage during the 2002 Stellar Awards in Atlanta, Georgia.
(2) An urban Black gospel band with crossover appeal, Commissioned are an extremely evangelistic group in concert who put on such a dramatic show that the altars are routinely packed with repenters following their performances. Members Fred Hammond, Keith Staten, Michael Brooks and Marvin Sapp have all done many successful solo projects as well. They spent most of the '90s pursuing those careers, but found themselves back together in 2001 for a reunion tour and the first of another successful series of albums. ~ Bil Carpenter, Rovi

Every single day, every way
Light that glows
You need a life that shows
People deal with you every day
They see you come, and likewise go
They listen to the words that you say
A little upward show will let them know
It's the Lord you stand for
You need a life that shows
You need a to be a light,
(Light that glows)
Sometimes blending in is misunderstood
As being afraid, being ashamed
Take a stand my friend this you should
You belong to Jesus
Be proud your wearing His name
'Cause you are His go ahead be a witness
Go on and be a guiding light
You need a life that show
You're the only help that someone's ever know
So you need to be a light that glows
(You need a life that shows)
Let your light shine before all men
Let it shine, shine.
Let it shine, shine.
Let it shine, shine.
Let it shine, shine.
The song "Will You Be Ready?" by Commissioned is a call to action for Christians to stand up and represent Jesus in everything they do. The lyrics emphasize the importance of having a life that reflects the light of Jesus and the need to be a witness to others. The song starts with the idea that a Christian's life should be an example to others - one that shows the light of Jesus all the time. People interact with us daily, and so we need to make sure that the words we say and the things we do reflect Jesus. The song encourages Christians to make sure that their life is a light that shines everywhere they go, showing the world that Christ lives in them.
The second verse of the song speaks directly to Christians, reminding them that they are not of this world but belong to Jesus Christ. The song encourages Christians to be proud of the name they wear and to take a stand for Him. The lyrics suggest that blending in is not enough and that we should always be a guiding light to others. In the chorus, the message is repeated that we need to let our light shine before all men, reflecting the light of Jesus.

Lyrics for Will You Be Ready? by Commissioned
Cant you see the signs of the times
Dont you know that the time is short
Soon the Lord, He will return
Now will you be punished or get your reward
Now there'll be no more time to get it right
When the Lord, when He cracks the sky
So just keep your hand right in his hand
And be ready when my Jesus comes
Oh won't you be ready, ready when Jesus comes
Please be ready when my Savior comes
Get your house in order
And in your life, you gotta make Jesus first
Keep you lamps trimmed and burning bright
Let's all make a stand, stand up for what you know is right
Most importantly, Keep the love of Jesus always on your mind
And you've gotta be ready (You dont wanna be left out here after Jesus is gone)
Be ready when Jesus comes

BigE7! You are greatly appreciated. I grew up on Commissioned, but walked away and lived in sin for 25 years. Even when I was out in the world, God and these lyrics brought me back. Today, I am a minister of the Gospel, saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost. Ready! Be blessed...
