Control Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Then open them and witness the real thing
In the sky tonight, we watch the worlds in flight
This was always coming
Blackened clouds envelop the sky
From now on, perpetual night
Can't help but feel more alive than I've felt for years
All our actions have brought this on
And no remorse can reverse this storm
Everything that mattered yesterday
Is lost in the ash
Will all our purposes be fulfilled if tonight the world ends?
Or was there ever any purpose anyway?
We all say goodbye
Stand and face the red growing wave
And we all pray, we all pray and make our minds up
At the peak of our lives, we seldom stop to say
Thank you for the Universe
For the balance and the calm that we've all tried
So hard to destroy
Will all our purposes be fulfilled if tonight the world ends?
Or was there ever any purpose anyway? (Anyway)
We all say goodbye
Stand and face the red growing wave
And we all pray, we all pray and face the consequences
It's started
We will all step into the darkness
Together
This darkness thrust upon us
Today will be the last day
Tonight, the last night
This is the end
Our time has come
Where will you be when it all comes down?
As the ground takes flight, replay your life
Will you have made amends?
And how will you take your last breath
Sweet or despairing?
And how will you greet the face of death
When your soul leaves your body?
The lyrics of Control's song "Prelude" convey a sense of impending doom and reflection on the consequences of human actions. The opening lines, "Press your hands to your eyes and watch the stars collide, then open them and witness the real thing," suggest a metaphorical juxtaposition of cosmic events and the harsh reality of the world. It implies that sometimes we shield ourselves from the truth, but eventually, we have to face it.
The song then delves into the idea that this catastrophic event was inevitable, as depicted through the lyrics "This was always coming." The mention of "perpetual night" and "blackened clouds" creates a somber tone, symbolizing the irreversible darkness caused by our actions. Despite the dire circumstances, the singer expresses a strange sense of exhilaration, feeling more alive than they have in years.
The lyrics pose introspective questions about the purpose of our existence. They question whether our purposes will be fulfilled if the world ends and whether there was any purpose at all. It reflects on the fleeting nature of life and the need to come to terms with the consequences and make peace in the face of impending doom.
Ultimately, the song concludes with a sense of unity and acceptance. The idea that "we will all step into the darkness together" emphasizes the shared human experience and the need to confront the darkness as a collective. It serves as a reminder to reflect on our lives, make amends, and face death with courage and integrity.

It might be worth a try, but the 5th gen climate controls don't usually go like the 4th gen ones do. Honda added some bits to strengthen the green plug in the 5th gen units.
