Familiar things do change but in our minds they stay the same
I can hear the voice of my Momma calling out her children's names.
She say come on in it's dinner time
Let me help my babies fix their plates
We all have memories we should not forget
times that become part of our life
When I think of you instantly I get sentimental thoughts
I get sentimental
We were holding hands walking through the park
It seems like yesterday
It felt so good to be in love but our age got in the way
I still feel the warmth of your arms
I feel you on my face when I reminisce
I think of this 'cause what I miss is you.
We all have memories we should not forget
times that become part of our life
A person so heart-felt
When I think of you instantly I get sentimental thoughts
I get sentimental
wonderful that's what you are unforgettable
You know my heart won't let me go.
Love-able
So love-able
I get emotional when I think of your love
Sentimental thoughts of moments
Captured in our minds as we grow up
Things in life do change for us, but
Memories stay the same.
Loved ones in our lives are important
Never take for granted someone
Spend some time while they're around.
We all have memories we should not forget
times that become part of our life
A person so heart-felt
When I think of you instantly I get sentimental thoughts
I get sentimental
wonderful that's what you are unforgetable
You know my heart won't let me go.
Love-able
So love-able
I get emotional when I think of your love
The lyrics of Copper's song "Sentimental" take listeners on a trip down memory lane, reflecting on how memories shape our lives and how people we love continue to impact us even after they are gone. The song explores the idea that even as familiar things change, our memories of them stay the same, and we should cherish the people we love while they're still around. One verse refers to the singer's mother calling her children in for dinner, a common childhood memory for many. The song then shifts to a reminiscence of a lost love, with the singer still feeling the warmth of their arms and missing them dearly. The chorus repeats the message that memories and moments with loved ones are important and should not be forgotten.
The theme of nostalgia and sentimentality within the song is emphasized by the understated instrumentation and minimal production. The melody is simple and repetitive, allowing the lyrics to take center stage. The song's slow pace and soft vocal delivery draw the listener in, encouraging them to reflect on their own memories and experiences.
