The band started as a hardcore punk band but later moved towards a slower and blues-tinged heavy metal sound. To date, the band has released ten studio albums, four EPs, one compilation, and one live album. Their first three studio albums―Eye for an Eye (1984), Animosity (1985) and Blind (1991)―attracted the attention of Columbia Records, who signed the band in 1993. Corrosion of Conformity found success with the release of their 1994 fourth studio album, Deliverance, which peaked at number 155 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the hits "Albatross" and "Clean My Wounds". Their 1996 follow-up Wiseblood was also successful, and at the time, it was Corrosion of Conformity's highest-charting album in the United States, peaking at number 104 on the Billboard 200. Their latest album, No Cross No Crown, was released on January 12, 2018 on Nuclear Blast Records, and became the band's first album to enter the Top 100 on the Billboard 200, where it peaked at number 67.
Deliverance
Corrosion of Conformity Lyrics

Maybe you'll look and see thel be no deliverance.
Turn to vulture parasites who pray on lost souls
Suck the blood of hapless fools who give them control!
No deliverance
Pick your own deliverance
No deliverance
Sad domination by those who say more than you'll ever know
Take you to the depths of dogma hollow
It's them you follow..
No deliverance!
Irredemption pure deception won't see what's if or true
Shutter your world and you won't be shut out
The devastating truth
Denial on on trial like a jumbo cap
Vile brother are you through??
No deliverance
Pick your own deliverance
No deliverance
Sad domination by those who say more than
You'll ever know
Take you to the depths of dogma, hollow
It s them you follow
Bleeding inside breathing with pride
They tow the line
We feed the crime with borrowed time select and find
No longer will they know
We amputate the shown..
The lyrics of "Deliverance" by Corrosion of Conformity talks about how the singer sees the chains of ignorance and dominance by others, which prompt the question "Is there no one to deliver you from your ignorance?". He also hints that people are helpless unless they choose their own deliverance, and that looking to others for help is a trap as it lets them control you. The verse suggests that some people's domination is sad because they are more than what they will ever show you. Instead of giving you actual reality, they take you to the depths of dogma, hollowing your knowledge rather than helping you grow. The chorus creates a world separate from those who choose to follow the false reality, as they feed the crime with borrowed time, breathing with pride, but bleeding inside.
As a whole, Corrosion of Conformity's song can be seen as a deep criticism against succumbing to the will of others while sacrificing your own thoughts and beliefs. Through the lyrics, we can learn that, instead of looking to others for deliverance, we should look upon ourselves and try to achieve it alone.
