Wild Soul
Cristina Scarlat Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

What am I? Am I human?
What am I? An emotion.
Time and space can lie to us while we sleep.
Lovers cry, parents tremble,
While you and I show our devils.
The world can play a joke on each of us anytime.

Mercy — I have no feelings of mercy.
Destiny left me so empty.
Emptying my heart and my spirit.
My patience, fighting with our indifference.
Fighting to win over everything that we are and can be.

Selfishness takes the trophies.
Honesty wins the glories.
All the masks we have are meant to make us free.
What if pride kills our feelings,
While you and I lay there dreaming.
The world can throw a test for each of us anytime.

Mercy …

Wild soul is rushing through my body and mind.
Wild soul is meant to keep me trying.

Mercy …

Overall Meaning

The song "Wild Soul" by Cristina Scarlat is a reflection on the complexity of human nature and the challenges we face as we journey through life. The first verse poses the question, "What am I? Am I human?" This is followed by the assertion that the singer is an emotion, a feeling that can be elusive and difficult to define. The second line of the verse speaks to the way in which time and space can distort our perceptions of reality while we sleep. The chorus, with the repeated refrain of "Mercy," represents a plea for compassion and understanding, a recognition of both the singer's own struggles and the struggles of others. The line "Destiny left me so empty" speaks to a sense of loss or disappointment, a feeling that despite one's best efforts there is something missing, something unfulfilled.

The second verse contrasts the reactions of lovers and parents in the face of adversity with the singer's own willingness to confront their own "devils." The line "Selfishness takes the trophies / Honesty wins the glories" suggests that the rewards of life are not always aligned with the values that we hold most dear. The bridge of the song speaks to the idea of masks, the ways in which we present different versions of ourselves to the world in order to protect ourselves or to conform to societal expectations. The final lines, "Wild soul is rushing through my body and mind / Wild soul is meant to keep me trying," captures the sense of energy and determination that runs throughout the song, a call to embrace the unknown and to continue striving towards something greater, even in the face of uncertainty.

@@eschungary2050 Are they?
2013 - They should have and did qualify.
2014 - They should have qualified, but honestly, live performance was meh.
2015 - They realistically didn't have a song strong enough for the strong competition.
2016 - I'll give you this one, she should have went through.
2017 - They ended-up 3rd. Hardly underrated.
2018 - They should have and did qualify.
2019 - That song wasn't nearly strong enough.
So, all and all, sure, sometimes they were underrated, but at times many countries were. It's not all gloomy.
