I am 70 yrs now,but i have listened to and loved his music and songs since i was 15 yrs old,the way he makes his guitar sing along with him is an absolute delight,i am fighting depression and was diagnosed recently with leukaemia,so when i feel down and alone i just listen to John's music,it takes me to better place.the whole world needs to listen to it.take care everyone.💔

This man was so much ahead of time, it's unbelievable. I recall that he was looked down on, but people just didn't realize how much he cared about the environment and nature. He was a gift for all to enjoy. A humble man, that was grateful for the gift of talent given to him and loved to share it. RIP Mr. Denver.

John was one of the greatest humanitarians and talents that the world has ever known. I listened to John Denver every single day for six years straight form first to sixth grade, still do. John raised me as much as my parents. He was my teacher, my guru. I knew very deep things as a very young child. In many ways, am who I am because of John.

This was one of my mother's favorite songs. She lost her battle with pancreatic cancer a few years ago, and we played it to her as she passed away, and had it performed at her funeral. This beautiful song will always have a special place in my heart.

I occasionally have anxiety attacks and the first thing I do is put John Denver music on. Concentrating on his voice, the rythym of his music and the subject of his songs helps to calm me down. He is very missed! I am slowly introducing him to my son and grandchildren. 🙂

Charlene. Thank you for sharing John’s music with others. Please know that in doing this, you are helping to heal others, often without even being aware. I am a retired social worker and a long time JD fan. I was blessed to see John 16 times over the years and always felt the healing quality in John’s voice. For many years I counseled my clients who were stressed to “take two John Denver songs and call me in the morning “. It’s amazing how many of them responded positively to John’s voice and continued on as fans. I still listen to him everyday to balance my psyche and remember what is really important in life, especially in these chaotic times. The vibration of love and compassion in his voice, and the deep meanings in his words always touch my soul and provide healing. I consider it a privilege to share this aspect of John with as many people as I can, in my efforts to help heal others and help make our world a little better place for all of us.

Every time I hear this song, it makes me cry. John Denver was truly a "song's best friend". Although his songs were about nature, protecting the environment and the human condition, they were so very true. - A man totally ahead of his time and so many critics just dismissed him with the proverbial wave of their hand. Now his songs are standards. I miss seeing him and hearing new materials. So sad he was taken from us way too soon.

Yes absolutely. I have over 3000 albums of all genres, but that's the one I'd grab in a fire or to take to a desert island. An utter masterpiece. I just regret never seeing him live in concert.

Exactly my thought. I am in my 60's and recently diagnosed with cancer. It was early and my chances are good, but my brothers and their kids were freaking out. I love to sing, and my best friend is a great guitar player, and we had a family gathering and I sang this for them. Maybe the treatment works and I live another 20 years, maybe it doesn't and I am gone in a year or so - either way, what does it really matter? I have had a good life. Like John, I'd hate to see it end, but it is going to at some point, and I prefer to appreciate what I have had rather than be depressed by what I might have.

Was fortunate enough to see John live on three separate occasions. Each concert was uniquely magical. The first included an entire orchestra and his band. The sound and depth of the music was incredible. The second was John and his band. The music was incredible - more dynamic and improvised at times. Both were at large outdoor amphitheaters, surrounded by nature. The third was just John and his guitar at an indoor theater. Very intimate and raw. Three amazing performances I will never forget. RIP John. Thanks for the memories and the inspiration to learn the guitar. Thanks for giving a voice to the beauty of all that God has created.

@Zachary John Denver I was and still am a great fan of your fathers music. Your father's music kept me from committing suicide June 21, 1979. I was 20 years old. "Sunshine on My Shoulders" came on the radio just as I put a gun to my head. As I listen to his voice and to the words to the song I put the gun down. Today I am a great grandfather and never thought about suicide again. The news of your fathers death struck me very hard. I then thought back to that day 18 years earlier and began to weep... I was fortunate enough to see him live in a one-man free concert at India Point Park, Rhode Island in the late 80's or early 90's. Never forget it. It was just his magical voice and his guitar! A legend that will never be forgotten. A great human being!

I've loved this song forever. And now more than ever it says what my heart, mind, and soul feels. Just this past October, 2020 I lost my brother-in-law to cancer. He was a brother to me and I to him. Two nights ago, Tuesday Feb. 16 2021 a friend for 48 years was taken from me/us by Covid-19. He too was a brother. One BIG thing we all shared in common was our insatiable love of music (Classic Rock, Blues, Reggae, American Folk, & .....). I've always been a pretty tough and rugged guy. But I've never felt more alone than now and have wept in the odd hours these last few nights like a baby. Can't find my strength .... it has always been family and friends for me I'm proud to say. And I vow now to hug even longer and stronger than ever before. I think it might be the way. 🤒🎶🖤👊🤲🎶

John Denver was a wonderful, humble performer. No "look at me" persona or irritating facial contortions, eye pops, swaying back and forth, or other distracting and annoying theatrics. He threw off a comfortable, easy, authentic, and safe vibe that helped make him such a pleasure to watch.

His voice just got richer over the years. Every iteration made a song sound less like a performance and more like a personal conversation.

Saw him live in Hawaii. Best show I have ever witnessed. Two hours of sheer bliss. Two 45 minutes sessions with a 30 minute encore. Hard to believe he wrote that many songs to do that. Full energy the entire time.

John had forgotten more about being a entertainer, a communicator and a singer than most celebrities today ever learn.
He was a very humble man, and to the end of his life it just continued to amaze him that people by the thousands would happily pay to hear him sing his songs and tell his stories. He never assumed his own greatness.

I grew up through my teens and on with John Denver music. A friends small camp in NH’s White Mountains heated by a wood stove. Snow blowing outside. His music playing inside. Thinking back now at 67 and listening to his music warms my heart and brings back those beautiful times. I miss him terribly. Thanks John for your gift of music. RIP

A truly magical evening.
Like all of us he was flawed, numerous affairs when on the road, but I don't think he ever stopped loving his first love Annie.
