Hee
Arch d virus
Dark horses and roses
Taking shots and doses
All the nudes and poses
Ah ah ah (My heart)
This is my diagnosis (Mine)
You just wanna be notice (No... tice)
But you're losing focus (Girl you are)
Ah ah
You just looking for attention (You are)
To heal from your fucked-up situation (You are)
But this is not your best reaction
I can feel your frustration
You're just looking for attention
So you throw your heart in the ocean
Now you're heading fuckgirl nation
I can feel your frustration
This is not who you are
This is not who you are
This is not who you are (This is not who you are oh oh)
This is not who you are
This is not who you are
This is not who you are (This is not who you are)
This is not who you are
This is not who you are
You're a diamond in the rough
Sometimes life will get tough
All you gotta do, gotta do is pick your heads up
It's funny how you claim that you’re living your best life
(It's funny how you claim that you're living) Oh
When everybody knows that you’re dying inside (When everybody knows)
You just looking for attention
To heal from your fucked-up situation (Na na na... na)
But this is not your best reaction
I can feel your frustration
You're just looking for attention
So you throw your heart in the ocean
Now you're heading fuckgirl nation
I can feel your frustration
This is not who you are (This is not who you are who you are who you are girl)
This is not who you are
This is not who you are (Na na na)
This is not who you are
This is not who you are (This is not who you are)
This is not who you are (Hou)
This is not who you are
This is not who you are
You played yourself
You played yourself girl
All the niggas in your DM
They don't really love you
They just wanna give you attention
Cuz they know that's what you lacking
They just wanna f***
You played yourself
Hou
This is not who you are
This is not who you are
This is not who you are (This is not who you are girl)
This is not who you are
This is not who you are (This is not who you are)
This is not who you are (This is not who you are)

This is not who you are (This is not who you are)
This is not who you are (Who you are... girl)

Overall Meaning

In D's song "Attention," the lyrics address the issue of seeking attention to heal from a problematic situation, but ultimately losing focus. The lyrics suggest that the person seeking attention is throwing their heart into the ocean and heading towards a negative and destructive path of "fuckgirl nation." In contrast, the song points out that the person seeking attention is a "diamond in the rough," and despite life getting tough, all they need to do is to pick their heads up. The chorus repeats that seeking attention is not who they are and that they are not living their best life.

The song highlights how people seek attention to validate themselves, especially in problematic relationships. The person seeking attention plays herself by believing that the attention she gets is real love when, in reality, it is merely validation to her ego of being wanted. The lyrics also touch on how social media plays a role in this situation, where people use the "likes" and "comments" they receive as an epitome of their value and worth.

Overall, "Attention" portrays how seeking attention for the wrong reasons can lead to temporary happiness but long-term disillusionment. It is a reminder that a person's worth is not defined by the attention they receive from others, and to love oneself first before expecting others to love us back.

She delivered her point loud and clear.

she got hate for being authentic despite hurting no one. She got deliberately misunderstood. This happened to every celebrity with social media at some point and they all started censoring themselves (e.g. Lizzo, Cardi B) because it wasn't worth the headache and losing the brand deals. Hell, even JLaw got tired of the hate, retreated for years and she doesn't even have socials!

But Doja said fuck it. Because that ain't fun. She clearly wasn't enjoying herself, she said that many times (and she got hate for that as well).

So she just went out there, reestablished herself as that person who dgaf, a troll even. This is her art and this is the artist. This is the persona she wants to share with you. Take it or leave it.

She doesn't need the brand deals, she makes enough money. You gotta respect her for that.

you can really tell when an artist is creating from their heart and this song hits different , I didn’t know what she meant by all her previous stuff being a cash grab but I see it now , this is so authentic and refreshing and unique I fucking love it

@bi.fruitsalad

Exactly because it didn’t truly align with her and wasn’t truthful like this song. This song isn’t “for the money” compared to her old songs (the ones after she gained popularity) it’s her speaking her truth and not giving a f and I’m so here for it!
