His brother SiR is signed to Top Dawg Entertainment. In 2006, he started a songwriting group called WoodWorks with his brothers and his cousin Tiffany GouchΓ©, who wrote songs for Ginuwine and The Pussycat Dolls, and is credited for co-writing "Never" by Jaheim. Supa Good
Inglewood
I told 'em I'm the one for the job, no commas
And I'm serious, period, no commas
Wanna enjoy my family and my friends with no drama
And stack 'til I'm delirious, period (no), no
We can take a loss, we gon' get it right back
We can take a loss, we gon' get it right
We can take a loss, we gon' get it right, yeah
I can be your boss, put game in your life, uh
Or you can spin your wheels, that chain off your bike
These niggas on they heels, they feignin' the fight
I'm here to feed my fam, they want they name in the lights
Dipped the paint in my pain and illustrated my plight
Gave it 'til I had nothing left, so I guess that I'm right
Writin' 'til I don't see no wrong, head to Rome on a flight
Then it's bon appΓ©tit, better not be no bone in my swai
Went from bologna sandwiches, listening to Thelonious
Gifted like homie had a B-day on replay
And grandma kissed him and said man of God
You was made to withstand the odds
Learn to play your cards, stay true to you, and take charge
I told 'em I'm the one for the job, no commas
And I'm serious, period, no commas
Wanna enjoy my family and my friends with no drama
And stack 'til I'm delirious, period (no), no
Ain't no dollar sign tag on some peace of mind, jack
We can take a loss, we gon' get it right back
We can take a loss, we gon' get it right
We can take a loss, we gon' get it right, yeah
They buyin' everything in my city lights
Property value rising, they gon' gentrify
This ain't rocket science, here, let me simplify
We think we owners, but we only renters, why?
The system ain't broke, it's designed to keep us declinin'
Until we reach the bottom line and can't see the sky
Swimmin' in our misfortune, distortin' our vision and eyes glistenin' (smoke, chill out)
Remember our fallen peers, they listenin' (ay, my nigga, chill out, Smoke)
Sorry, my dear, they eat that venison (ay, nigga, shut the fuck up)
With no remorse, resort to militance (nigga, shut up, nigga)
They'll shoot up a church, mosque, or that temple shit (nigga, you tryna get us killed)
And we shoot up ourself, why everybody aimin' at a nigga like me?
Brown skin, kinky hair, walkin' in my Nikes
Town shit, Inglewood 'bout to belong to whitey
Unless we buy this shit up and fry the shit up like snapper
Invest in our own society
I told 'em I'm the one for the job, no commas
And I'm serious, period, no commas
Wanna enjoy my family and my friends with no drama
And stack 'til I'm delirious, period (no), no
No commas, no drama, word to tΓo Obama
MamΓ‘ dijo, "No te preocupe', mijo," you got it
You 'bout to blow, dejar un hoyo en la tierra Osama
Just keep on giving 'em cuts, con las tijeras, you'll come up
No commas, no drama, word to tΓo Obama
Mama dijo, "No te preocupe', mijo," you got it
You 'bout to blow they high, don't know you're en la tierra Osama
Just keep on giving 'em cuts, con las tijeras, you'll come up
No commas, no drama, word to tΓo Obama
Mama dijo, "No te preocupe', mijo," you got it
You 'bout to blow they high, don't know you're en la tierra Osama
Just keep on giving 'em cuts, con las tijeras, you'll come up (gon' pay you back)
The lyrics to D Smoke's song No Commas describe his determination to succeed without getting caught up in drama or materialism. The first verse establishes D Smoke's confidence in his abilities, declaring that nobody is more prepared for success than him. He emphasizes his seriousness and dedication to his craft, with a clear focus on stacking his wealth. In the chorus, he rejects the idea that money is the only path to happiness, arguing that peace of mind is priceless and can't be bought with dollar signs. Instead of being defined by monetary success, he is intent on enjoying his family and friends without drama.
In the second verse, D Smoke contrasts his own focus on success with those who are "feigning the fight" and "want their name in the lights." For him, writing is a way to process and overcome his pain, rather than seeking attention or validation through his art. He has learned to take ownership of his own narrative and stay true to himself, rather than getting swept up in celebrity culture. He describes his journey as one of endurance, likening himself to a man of God who is meant to withstand the odds. He advises listeners to learn to play their cards and take charge of their own lives.
The third verse shifts focus to broader societal issues, expressing concern about the gentrification of his city and the way that people of color are kept from owning their own communities. He challenges the idea that the system is broken, arguing that it is designed to keep people in poverty and despair. This makes it all the more important to invest in his own community and take control of his own destiny. The song concludes with a repeated declaration that he will succeed without drama or commas, affirming his determination to make a difference in his community.

I've started to look at how D Smoke always has women displayed in his videos in a position of power, respect and appreaciation. It is such a huge contrast from how women are portrayed in the majority of rappers' videos and lyrics these days. I'm not even American, or from an African American background but I admire this so much! Black women seen and shown with the respect they are owed. That is how the kings do it! Much love <3
