Countdown to Annihilation
Dance Club Massacre Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's the grand finale.
At center stage where the invitational is endless.
Times due to look our best.
Put on your best shirt and slacks, ladies.
Oh yeah sweet sizzlin' sassy girls.
The fridge is full so make haste and get on with your bad selves.
Grab your dates and your entry numbers.
The countdown has begun.
Sweating simultaneously in one room.
Twist if you must.
Shout if you dare.
But damsels and villains both beware.
It's time, it's time...to raise your glasses high.
To Auld Lang Syne my dear, and a happy new year.
This jig is just for you.
Do what you must, but I won't tell.
These lips are sealed.
To Auld Lang Syne my dear.
And a happy new year
The lyrics to Dance Club Massacre's song Countdown to Annihilation depict a chaotic and frenzied New Year's Eve party. The singer implores the party people to make some noise, calling this the grand finale of a long string of parties. The scene is one of excess - the fridge is full, and everyone is dressed up in their best clothes. However, there is an underlying sense of danger and violence, with references to entry numbers and a looming rumble. Despite this, the partygoers are encouraged to let loose and dance, to twist and shout and raise their glasses high to toast the new year. The song ends on a note of secrecy, with the singer promising not to tell anyone what happens next.
One interpretation of the lyrics is that they illustrate the fleeting nature of pleasure and excess, and the potential for danger that comes with it. The focus on looking one's best and dressing up suggests a desire for appearance and status, while the references to violence and secrecy hint at something more sinister underneath the surface. The repeated references to Auld Lang Syne, a traditional New Year's Eve song, provide a contrast to the chaotic party atmosphere and suggest a desire for continuity and tradition amidst the chaos.

Ross Tregemba
I think Circle Of Death was their best album.. There are some definite good ones from Feast of the blood monsters though.. But the lyrics are much more clear and easy to follow on Circle Of Death.. Good luck following lyric sheets on their old album rofl.
