Slow Dance With a Stranger
Danger Radio Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Call in the cavalry
Uh, tonight
You're makin' it so hard to breathe
Every time, you wrap your arms around me
Breakdown
Girl, you know I'm feelin' you
Except for when our bodies move
What have I got myself into?
Girl you make me feel like I'm walkin' into danger
(mmm but I don't really care)
Girl I think I'm ready for a slow dance with a stranger
(And I want you to take me there)
mmm? I think I'm ready for it
Girl you know I can't ignore it
Step on the gas let's floor it
Everything you want and more, cause
Girl I think I'm ready for a slow dance with a stranger
Right now
My heart is beating out my chest
Goin' down
Yeah I'm the one that does you best
Round and round
You're makin' me obsessed, got one request
Lay back
Let me take the driver's seat
It's a fact
That you make my life complete
I'll attack
You're every fantasy, baby
Girl you make me feel like I'm walkin' into danger
(mmm but I don't really care)
Girl I think I'm ready for a slow dance with a stranger
(And I want you to take me there)
mmm I think I'm ready for it
Girl you know I can't ignore it
Step on the gas let's floor it
Everything you want and more, cause
Girl I think I'm ready for a slow dance with a stranger
No I never saw it comin'
I should be up and running
Instead of walking right back into danger, danger, danger
But you can keep me up all night
Can't let you out of my sight
I want another slow dance with a stranger, stranger, stranger
Girl you make me feel like I'm walkin' into danger
(mmm but I don't really care)
Girl I think I'm ready for a slow dance with a stranger
(And I want you to take me there)
Girl you make me feel like I'm walkin' into danger
(mmm but I don't really care)
Girl I think I'm ready for a slow dance with a stranger
(And I want you to take me there)
mmm I think I'm ready for it
Girl you know I can't ignore it
Step on the gas let's floor it
Everything you want and more, cause
Girl I think I'm ready for a slow dance with a stranger
The lyrics to Danger Radio's "Slow Dance With a Stranger" capture the thrilling uncertainty that can come with romantic attraction. The singer acknowledges that being with this person feels like "walkin' into danger," but they can't resist the pull they feel towards them. The singer describes feeling so consumed by the other person that they're making it hard to breathe, and they're obsessed with every aspect of them. The line "I want another slow dance with a stranger" emphasizes the unpredictable nature of the attraction - the other person is a stranger, yet the singer wants to keep dancing with them.
The chorus of the song is particularly effective in capturing the emotions at play. The repeated lines "Girl you make me feel like I'm walkin' into danger / (mmm but I don't really care) / Girl I think I'm ready for a slow dance with a stranger / (And I want you to take me there)" demonstrate the singer's conflicted feelings - on the one hand, there's a sense of caution and hesitation, but on the other, they're eager to see where the attraction takes them. This push-pull relationship between caution and desire lies at the heart of the song's message.
Overall, "Slow Dance With a Stranger" is a deeply felt exploration of the unpredictable, electric feelings that arise when we're attracted to someone. The lyrics neatly capture the mixture of danger and desire that can make these relationships so exciting.

Most unique Band in their generation. Underrated too. I hope there's a reunion concert with Andrew and the rest of members of DR.

I hate that almost no one pays attention to a band when they're active and then once they break up or "disappear" you get tons of people going "This was the best band ever!! Better than everyone else!!"
