“I write music to move people.”
He was born in Johannesburg and has been singing since a very young age. Daniel is a self taught musician on drums, bass and piano – he has never attended lessons – and his ear for music has led him to become a skilled singer/songwriter. Over the years he has performed in restaurants, theatres, jazz bars and clubs. He finished high school in 2009 which is the same year he competed in Simon Fuller’s ‘South African Idol’. He placed 9th in the competition, which led him to huge opportunities such as local performances, sponsors and even an international gig. His style is a mix of pop and rock, but can’t be limited to a single genre because of his countless influences and wide appreciation of music. Growing up with a vast spectrum of musical genres, from the rock sounds of U2, Def Leppard and Journey – to the pop beats of Michael Jackson, Prince and the Bee Gees – to this day he aspires to make music with the emotion that radiated from those songs. “Every kind of music I hear influences me in one way or another.” Daniel mentions “… I write music to move people.” And with his distinctive voice, unique sound, profound lyrics, and rockstar live performances with his band you are bound to be moved.
He is a prolific songwriter, having penned 3 songs for the soundtrack of the upcoming film STUCK, including the main feature theme song – he is also featured in the music video which was filmed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Among other projects, Daniel co-wrote the hit afrikaans song, “Liefde Soldaat” which is performed by the SA boy band ‘Adam’. He has also collaborated with SA rap star Obita. Daniel has been in and out of the studio since 2005, and has worked with top producers such as Darryl Torr (Zebra and Giraffe) and well-known artist/producer, Kreesan. He recorded his EP album, “Paint My Blue Sky”, with highly rated SA producer Myles Shannon. He is currently working with the producer responsible for his smash singles, “Different Feeling” & "So Much More", Brendan Campbell. On a whole new front, he has composed songs and jingles for a number of large corporate companies. Daniel is always writing and recording new material.

Weekend
Daniel Baron Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A little hope
A happy ever after
But It's always been inside of us
If we don't love
There's gonna be a rapture
Make love, don't fight
Atomic hearts explode tonight
This is the weekend
The weekend
The one we've been waiting for
Love is the reason
That we can
Armageddon on the dance floor
We gonna light it up
Set the whole world on fire (Oh)
So put your weapons down
And let your love take you higher
Let's send the message all around the world
Africa to New York
Broadcasting on all radios
And when they hear the sound of hate no more
And loves runs to the core
There's gonna be a rainbow
When you see the fire in the sky
Make love, don't fight
Atomic hearts explode tonight
This is the weekend
The weekend
The one we've been waiting for
Love is the reason
That we can
Armageddon on the dance floor
We gonna light it up
Set the whole world on fire (Oh)
So put your weapons down
And let your love take you higher
The lyrics to Daniel Baron's song Weekend suggest that the solution to finding happiness and a better world lies within ourselves and our ability to love. The song encourages listeners to put aside their differences, let go of hate and violence, and focus on the power of love. The opening lines express a desire to find an antidote to the struggles and challenges of life and to attain a happy ending. However, the song acknowledges that this happy ending cannot be found externally and instead encourages listeners to look inward to find the love that can bring a sense of peace and hope. The song's refrain suggests that love is the reason for our existence and that it can be a force that brings us together.
The lyrics also suggest a certain urgency with regards to love and unity. The use of words like "rapture" and "Armageddon" imply a catastrophic event, but rather than focusing on fear, the song promotes love and acceptance as the key to survival. The line "put your weapons down and let your love take you higher" emphasizes this message by urging listeners to abandon violence and embrace love.
In summary, the lyrics to Weekend by Daniel Baron are a call for unity, love and an end to violence. The song encourages listeners to look within themselves to find the power of love to create a better future for everyone.
