Dannii first broke out of her sister's shadow in 1997 with the album Girl. Whilst Kylie Minogue was experimenting with dark lyrics, indie collaborations and moody images (Impossible Princess), Dannii went out and out for the dancefloor with the huge hit All I Wanna Do. Unfortunately, the album that it was from only reached No. 57. However, Dannii herself has said, "This was a big turning point for me. It has led me on to the album Neon Nights and my collaborations with many club DJs and remixers".
2001 was a success for Dannii, when her vocals were part of Riva's Who Do You Love Now?, which laid the foundations for her fourth album Neon Nights released in March 2003.
Moving to London Records, Dannii made more credible dance tracks including I Begin To Wonder and Put The Needle On It. In 2003, Dannii released her fourth album, Neon Nights. It was a surprise chart success, reaching no.8 in the UK charts and eventually achieving gold status, selling over 100,000 copies. The album also made gold certification in Australia. Dannii also teamed up with chill-out Ibiza stars Afterlife for a collaboration on their Speck of Gold album. Dannii's star was beginning to shine in its own right.
In 2004, after a top 10 album and four top 10 singles, Dannii moved to All Around The World Records. Her first single for AATW was You Won't Forget About Me, which saw Dannii's vocals layered on top of the instrumental hit Flower Power and landed at no.7 in the UK charts, making it Dannii's fifth consecutive top 10 hit. You Won't Forget About Me was followed up in 2005 by Perfection, on which Dannii teamed up with the Soul Seekerz, which narrowly missed out on the top 10 in the UK, peaking at no.11. In 2006, she returned with So Under Pressure and her Greatest Hits album The Hits & Beyond.
Dannii has been a judge on British television channel ITV's The X Factor since 2007 alongside Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh.
In November 2007, Girl and Neon Nights were re-released with bonus discs, with a new studio album Club Disco and compilation album Unleashed appearing within the following weeks. A stand alone single Touch Me Like That was released in December 2007. It was later included on the re-release of Club Disco released in Australia in the spring 2008.
Later in 2008, the logical and long-overdue duet with her own sister finally was released as Kylie & Dannii recorded a cover of ABBA's The Winner Takes It All appeared on the soundtrack album to the shortlived BBC show Beautiful People.
Everybody Changes Underwater

Where am I?
Love surrounds my body
My eyes are closed, but I see
Colors have soothed the soul
Moving as part of this world
Taking it to ...floor
Diving deeper, backened by dolphins
Brushing against my skin, tickling
I swim closer, speaking of thoughts ...are friendly
Where I stand
It's safe beneath the waves
Is this real
Is this real
*Everybody changes underwater
Everybody changes underwater
Everybody changes underwater
I come up for air
I just want to prove everything is new ...seems to cool
And fill the water to a garden
Fruit ...from the trees
I reach up and take it
It's ripe, soft, and sweet
I feel there's a long grass
I run my fingers through the blades
Umm...feel inside me
I lie back closing my eyes
The song soothes me
I begin to float, floating higher and higher
Higher and higher
*Repeat
Everybody changes underwater
There's no darkness
Looking down, the world is ...
If I fall, no one will catch me
Space, everywhere I once and ...all
Floating in the small part of the endless universe
I feel glowing starts, Poseidon and ...
Someone to ...
A finding light appears
So it's a life I recognize
You reach out your hands
And welcome me like angels
Is this real?
Is this real?
The lyrics to Dannii Minogue's song "Everybody Changes Underwater" describe the sensation of being submerged and surrounded by water. The singer is floating and diving deep into the depths of the ocean, interacting with friendly dolphins and feeling the softness of fruit and grass. The water is a place of safety, where she can escape from the world above and feel weightless. It's a peaceful place, where she can be soothed by a song that floats through the water, and find sanctuary from the darkness and confusion of the world above.
The chorus of "Everybody changes underwater" seems to be a recognition or a mantra for the singer, something that she repeats to herself as she dives deep into the water. It suggests that, no matter what happens in life, everything changes and shifts under the surface, where it's not always visible. We don't know what the singer is trying to escape from, but the water seems to be a place of solace and transformation.
Overall, the lyrics seem to be about finding a connection with nature and escaping from the stress and anxiety of the world above. Being underwater allows for a different kind of existence, where everything slows down and takes on a different texture.
