Going On
Dark Moor Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The particles of my past
Putting all together
To compose a neat contrast
And now, in the middle
I have found what ever lasts
Blowing like spring air
I feel my prior time
Like a pantomine
In which what is prime
Never comes again
Meanwhile your living
Is going on
Love I have discovered
In the core of human frame
Where all is always changing
Love is every time the same
It's the force of past
To give me impulse to win the game
At the end of my way
Love cleans all my harshest blames away
I feel my prior time
As if was a crime
In which I think I'm
Who feels and gives pain
Meanwhile your living
Is going on
The lyrics to Dark Moor's song "Going On" convey a sense of reflection and growth. The singer is introspective, looking inward to find the bits and pieces of his past that have shaped him into the person he is now. He is trying to put everything together in a way that makes sense and presents a contrast between his prior self and who he is becoming. In the middle of this introspection, he discovers the force of love. It's a force that never changes, even though everything else in life is constantly shifting. This love is a catalyst for change, giving him the strength to push forward and overcome any obstacles in his path.
The singer acknowledges that his past feels like a pantomime; a performance where the primary moments never come again. He is coming to terms with the fact that he can't go back and change the things that have happened to him, but he can use those experiences to propel himself forward. Love is the one constant that can clean away the harshest of blame and guilt, and make room for growth.
The final lines of the song contrast the singer's introspection with the idea that life goes on, regardless of how much we might want to pause and reflect. While the singer is taking a moment to examine his past, life is moving forward all around him.
