What Good Am I Without You
Darrow Fletcher Lyrics

Now I am up in the dark about a lot of things
You caught me with your smile, girl, and liked your style
But you really had me moved, you broke my heart
I heard you're going around the neighbourhood
You've been seen holding hands with another guy
What good am I... without you
It blew so wild, it filled my room
It grew so high, it's touching the sky
Now I wanna marry you on the 4th of July
Any way it goes, I want my heart to show
Exactly what's going inside of me
What good am I... without you
I heard you're going around the neighbourhood
You've been seen holding hands with another guy
What good am I... without you
What's good in my life if I don't have you to love
I'll walk the streets just half a man
I'll be something that turned into nothing
Like the desert with all the grains of sand
Any way it goes, I want my heart to show
Exactly what's going inside of me
What good am I... without you (repeat)
The song "What Good Am I Without You" by Darrow Fletcher is a poignant ballad that speaks of heartbreak and the overwhelming sense of loss experienced after a relationship has ended. The lyrics tell the story of a man who has been hurt by a woman he deeply loved. He finds himself in the dark, unsure of what to do or how to move on from the pain she has caused. He was enamored with her smile and style, but now she has been seen with another man and he is left feeling alone and brokenhearted.
The chorus of the song, "What good am I without you," repeatedly asks the question of what is left of the singer's life now that his love is gone. He compares himself to a rose that had begun to bloom but has now lost its beauty, and feels that he is something that has turned into nothing. He longs for her to see inside his heart and the pain he feels without her.

Moved to tears many a time on the dancefloor. Pure northern soul β€

Listening to this on what would have been Mike Terry's 78th birthday, Darrow puts in a great vocal performance but once again its Mike Terry's amazing arrangement that makes the record.

@Andrew Palmer .......Original 1967 copies on the Jacklyn record label are fetching around Β£300+ these days. [paid Β£10 for my copy back in the day].
Must admit, that whilst it's a brilliant track I do prefer his earlier releases, 'My Young Misery' and 'What Have I got Now'. But perhaps I'm being petty - anything by Darrow Fletcher is pure class.

@TheSoulTwins yep thatβs the going rate. I stupidly sold my original collection which I amassed during 1970 to 76, and immediately regretted it. So Iβm buying again and am discovering so many new sounds and buying lots I didnβt have before. Loving it. Need a copy of The Chevrons Love I love you, if you know of one for sale?
