Let Me Fall For You
David Cook Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I was wrong, I was wrong,
Thinking my heart can be my own.
I was strong, I was strong,
When I had a reason to hold on.

Let me fall, let me fall for you.
Let me fall for you.
Don't look down, don't look down,
By now it's too late to take it slow.
Turn around, turn around,
Give me a reason to let go.

Let me fall, let me fall for you,
Let me fall for you.

It's almost over,
I'm hanging by a thread.
With all the words you never said

I'm going under,
So tell me what to do.
I've got nothing to hold on to.
Let me fall for you.

All the time, all the time,
You were the one that got me through.
Like a sign, like a sign,
You were the voice that knew the truth.

Let me fall, let me fall for you.
Let me fall for you.

It's almost over,
I'm hanging by a thread
With all the words
You never said.

I'm going under,
So tell me what to do.
I've got nothing to hold on to.
Let me fall for you.

(Let me fall like a stone in the water
Let me fall like a plane out of the sky

Let me crash, let me burn my heart out
Let me learn to fly)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of David Cook's song "Let Me Fall For You" express a sense of vulnerability and surrender to another person. The first verse acknowledges that the singer was mistaken in thinking that they could guard their heart, and that they were only strong when they had someone to hold on to. The chorus pleads with the addressee to let the singer fall for them, to allow them to relinquish control and trust another. The second verse acknowledges that there is no turning back, and asks the addressee to give the singer a reason to let go. The bridge expresses the singer's despair and the need for guidance, asking for a reason to hold on and learn to fly.

Overall, the song expresses a longing for intimacy and vulnerability, contrasting with the singer's previous attempts at guarding their heart. The use of imagery in the chorus, with the repeated phrase "let me fall for you", reinforces the sense of surrender and relinquishing of control.

Love this song. It should have been on the CD & not a bonus cause it's that good! But then you would have had to take a song out of This Loud Morning & I couldn't pick one. They are all amazing!
