1) David Gray is a British singer-songwriter born on June 13, 1968 in Sale, United Kingdom. He released his first studio album in 1993 and received worldwide attention after the release of White Ladder six years later in 1999.
Gray moved to Wales at age 9 and later returned to the north-west of England to attend the University of Liverpool. His musical career got early support from a dedicated Irish fan base. After a few marginally-successful releases through the 1990s, Gray's breakthrough came with the worldwide release in 1999 of his fourth album, White Ladder; this was a critical and commercial success and included his best-known songs, "This Years Love" and "Babylon". In the United States, the album received a boost from jam-band leader Dave Matthews, who made it the first release by the record company he co-founded, ATO Records.
On August 11, 2001 White Ladder at last reached the top of the UK charts, having been selling steadily since its reissue the previous May, thereby setting a new record for the longest uninterrupted climb to No. 1. The follow-up, A New Day At Midnight, also hit No. 1, and Gray's seventh album, Life in Slow Motion was released on September 12, 2005.
Gray's early music was in a contemporary folk-rock, singer-songwriter mode; his primary instrument was acoustic guitar, with occasional piano. 1996's Sell Sell Sell featured some rock arrangements and electric instrumentation. Starting with the release of White Ladder in 1999, Gray began to make significant use of computer-generated music to accompany his voice and acoustic instrumentation, a technique which differentiates him from many of his peers. Despite the move to more complex music, Gray has used small-scale, often home-based, recording methods and equipment and espoused a "do it yourself" approach to music production. However, Life in Slow Motion is a collaboration with noted producer Marius De Vries.
David Gray's brothers-in-law are Paul and Phillip Hartnoll, formerly of the Techno/Rave band Orbital. Because of this relationship, Gray performed guest vocals on the Orbital single Illuminate, while Paul Hartnoll produced a breakbeat remix of Gray's song "Please Forgive Me".
His successful single "January Rain" was included in the original soundtrack of the movie Serendipity, starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale.

I hear the morning bell
Over and over the pattern repeat
I hear the morning bell
And all the faces cold as stone
In the January chill
You have led me into worlds unknown
And I'm walking there still
Every time now
Every time now
I think of you mine now
I just can't contain
I'm seven feet tall and
There's nightingales calling
Shooting stars falling
Like jewels in the rain
I ask myself, I ask myself
Can this life be the same
That spun me round and put me down
And filled me up with shame
And all the heads are turning now
Down the Tottenham Court road
Cause I just can't help but sing it out
Case I just might explode
Every time now
Every time now
I think of you mine now
I can't comprehend
The saxophones blowning
Cherry trees snowing
Emeralds growing
Right here in my hand
A dance in the moonlight
So high on a June night
Magazines strewn right
Over the chair
Your spine a white ladder
Your eyes singing sadder
Nothing else seems to matter
As soon as you're there
And every time now
Every time now
I think of you mine now
I just can't contain
I'm seven feet tall and
There's nightingales calling
Shooting stars falling
Like jewels in the rain
Every time now
Every time now
Every time now
Every time
La da da, la da da
The lyrics of David Gray's "Everytime" talks about how the singer's life changed after meeting someone. The song starts with the singer leaving a house, hearing the morning bell and all the faces that appear cold in the January chill. But even though the singer's surroundings seem to be dreary, the singer feels larger than life because of the person the singer met, thinking of them makes the singer feel like they're tall, nightingales are singing, shooting stars are falling, and emeralds are growing in their hands. The singer feels different, and the world around the singer is brighter because of the person they met.
The second verse delves deeper into the singer's life before the change, full of shame and feeling put down. The singer sings out loud, and people surrounding the singer turn their heads to look. Maybe because the singer's tune is so cheerful, or maybe because the singer was never like this before meeting the person mentioned previously. The rest of the song is about the experiences the singer and the person they met shared; they danced in the moonlight, magazines strewn, and nothing else mattered when they were together. The song ends with the singer feeling invincible because of the person they met.
In summary, "Everytime" is a song about how someone can change someone's life, and that person can make the world seem brighter and more colorful.
