Controversy came about in March 2008 when it was revealed that Hernandez once worked as a stripper at a strip club called Dick's Cabaret, a gay bar in Phoenix, AZ. He was subsequently voted off of American Idol.

He began work on a debut album produced by Eric West and Janice Robinson
