Meece often incorporates classical piano works into his songs. "This Time" (from LEARNING TO TRUST) borrows its opening section, bridge and ending tag from Chopin's "Revolutionary Etude" (Op. 10, No. 12) in C minor. Similarly, the introductory melody for "You Can Go" (from the album 7) is taken from Bach's Two-Part Invention No. 13 in A Minor (BWV 784) and "Falling Down" (from COUNT THE COST) has its basis in a sonata by Mozart.
His song "We Are the Reason" has been recorded by over 200 other artists and CHRONOLOGY's "Seventy-Times-Seven" peaked at No. 77 in Australia's Top 100 chart. David worked with Canadian Juno Award winner Gino Vannelli for his albums CHRONOLOGY and CANDLE IN THE RAIN.
David and his wife currently live in Franklin, Tennessee.
Over You
David Meece Lyrics

Great crusades of the 'Saved'
Have been launched
(Over You)
Their heretic searches and inquisitorial taunts
(Over You)
At least that's what was said by the ones
Over You, over You
There is nothing, there's no one
There's no other Lord over You, over You
You're the great King, the one God, the Lord of us all
There is none, there is none
Over You, over You, over You, over You
The skeptics laugh
"Faith is past, God is dead
We are at last over You
Our infatuation's lost all fascination
We're now over You"
But then, not all agree
You know, as for myself
Lord, I never could be
Over You, over You
There is nothing, there's no one
There's no other Lord over You, over You
You're the great King, the one God, the Lord of us all
There is none, there is none
Over You, over You, over You, over You
Under your mercy, dear God, I will stay
Under your sheltering hand, I will pray
Under your covering word, I have learned how to say
Over You, over You
There is nothing, there's no one
There's no other Lord over You, over You
You're the great King, the one God, the Lord of us all
There is none, there is none over You, over You
There's nothing, there's no one
There's no other Lord over You, over You
You're the great King, the one God, the Lord of us all
There is none, there is none
Over You, over You
Over You, over You
Over You, over You
Over You, over You
There is none over You
There is none over You
Over You, over You
Over You, over You
These lyrics are a declaration of faith and devotion to God. The singer of the song acknowledges that great battles and conflicts have been fought over God and the idea of God, but ultimately, there is no one and nothing greater than God. The lyrics mention heretic searches and inquisitorial taunts, which could be a reference to religious persecution or the Crusades. Despite the strife and division caused by differing beliefs, the singer asserts that there is no other lord or king greater than God.
The lyrics also touch on the skepticism of some towards religion and faith. The skeptics claim that faith is no longer relevant and that God is dead. However, the singer remains steadfast in their belief and acknowledges that they could never be "over" God. The lyrics speak to the comfort and security found in being under God's protection and mercy, and express a desire to always stay in that place.
Overall, "Over You" is a powerful expression of devotion and faith in God, despite the conflict and skepticism that may exist around it. It speaks to the importance of staying grounded in faith and finding peace and comfort in the idea of a higher power.

1994? I've been asking about a clip of David performing this song followed by an interview with Pat Boone concerning when it was taped. I knew it was before Odyssey in 1995. This is an awesome album though Learning To Trust is my favorite! David is even better than Michael W. Smith but not by much!
