Do you know what it′s like
To have someone who loves you –
Who cares for you
And when you're full of doubt
To have someone hold your hand
And say "Don′t let it bother you –
Don't let it worry you anymore"
Well I do –

Do you know what it's like to have someone who trusts you
Who believes in you
And when you′re down and out
To have someone cry for you
And when your song is a broken tune
Come make the melody brand new –
Well I do –

Somewhere – you′ve got to believe that
There's someone else besides yourself
Somewhere – you′ve got to perceive that
All you know is not all there is

Then you'd know what it′s like
To have someone who loves you
Who cares for you
And you'd know what it′s like
To have someone die for you
For someone did that for me
And what's more – when He died for me

He did the same –
For you

Overall Meaning

David Meece's song "Do You Know What It's Like" is a touching ballad about having someone in your life who loves you unconditionally and supports you through the struggles of life. The lyrics describe the comfort and reassurance that comes from having a significant other or friend who will hold your hand and tell you not to worry when times get tough. Meece also touches on the importance of trust and belief in his song when he sings about having someone who trusts and believes in you, even when you are struggling.

The chorus of the song takes on a deeper meaning as it speaks to the idea that there is more to life than just our own individual experience. Meece encourages us to look beyond ourselves and realize that there are other people out there who are also struggling, who also need love and support, and who would benefit from having someone who cares for them.

Overall, "Do You Know What It's Like" is a song that speaks to the human need for love, support, and community. It is a reminder that, even in our darkest moments, we are never alone.

My sister bought this album when she was 20 and I was 11. I loved the lyrics then. I still love them. My favorite line is "Do you know what it's like to know that all you know is not all there is." Whenever I am so sure I am right, God uses those lyrics to remind me not to be too sure of myself.

When I became a Christian in 1978 I sold all my record collection (325 records) from the ‘60’s & early’70’s) and just listened to a local Christian radio station and heard this. All the people I had known left me when I became a Christian so it was kinda lonely as far as relationships were concerned but our Lord brought others into my life. Along with this album I also purchased “The Lords Supper” by John Michael Talbot. I’d play them over and over. One day I’ll get to thank them for their ministry in my life.

I would love to find the MP3 file for this song. I don't suppose there is a Site that sells it, due to the age.
