This song takes me back to 1980, when my best friend and his wife were local champion disco dancers. We used to go watch them dance, and they often times won first place or in the top three. She died of cancer about 4 years ago, and he died last month of cancer. Thinking of you, Jeff and Sue, R.I.P.

David Naughton. Always loved this guy and this song!
He was in the "I'm a Pepper" commercials. He made "American Werewolf in London" one if my favorite horror movies also "Hot Dog the Movie" one if my favorite skiing movies. The sitcom they made from this song was a bomb, though. I know he's still acting and seen him in different things but this is when he was on top.

I bet many aren't aware David also starred as the singing/dancing man for the Dr. Pepper commercial; " If you drink Dr. Pepper you're a pepper, too"! Famous Director/Producer, John Landis found talent in him, as the werevolf, in " American Werewolf In London". Critics might have hated it, but Michael Jackson sure took an infatuation with the role and thus, " THRILLER" was born and became the biggest selling record, album, AND video of all time! The rest is history! No other song has even come close! Landis played a major role in that production, as well. Sadly, Naughton's career went down fast soon after this song was a huge success, ESPECIALLY in discos! Love the song; great memories with the ladies in the discos!!!

This song has a cool backstory! Back in the day, when I was a young assistant engineer working with Dino Fekaris on an album for disco legend Gloria Gaynor, he shared a great story with me.

The year before Makin' It came out, Dino was living in a tiny apartment in LA. He was so determined for success that he made a sign for his wall that declared: "This coming year's gonna be my year!"

His positive outlook paid off! That very phrase ended up in the song - listen closely, and you'll hear it.
