Having tasted fame and fortune and life as a celebrity, in October 2003 David made the shock announcement that he wanted to quit his career as a pop artist in order to concentrate full time on his songwriting. However, just six months later he made a low-key comeback as the lead-singer of indie-pop/rock band The Sham. Although they were together for less than a year the band achieved some success, releasing a single, 'Goodbye Baby' in October 2004 which, albeit briefly, topped the 7digital download chart ahead of U2 and Keane, and they appeared as one of the headline acts at the 2004/5 Hogmanay celebrations in Aberdeen, playing to a crowd of 40,000 along with Deacon Blue and Hugh and Cry.
Although never officially announcing a split, in the spring of 2005, the individual members of The Sham went their separate ways, pursuing individual projects and David returned to his 'day job', working full-time as a songwriter for other artists. To date, his most notable collaborations include: co-writer on international hit 'The Message' for critically acclaimed UK soul singer Nate James, and more recently with Julian Perretta who's debut single is due for release in August 2009.
David still performs as a solo artist occasionally, mainly at venues in the London area and is a regular at the Bedford, Regal Room and Troubadour.
In January 2007 he released a download EP entitled 'White Noise' - featuring brand new acoustic studio tracks - which, in David's own words: "Sold a sh*tload more than I thought it would". Since its release, the EP has continually hovered in and around the top 20 of the 7digital indiestore chart.
Early in 2007 David promoted the EP on the 'Lads Tour' - a mini-tour of gigs across the South of England with fellow singer/songwriters Jake Hook and Chris Townsend. The following August, he performed a series of sellout gigs at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival, as well as an impromptu appearance as a street busker with the Martians, the band he left five years earlier in 2002 prior to entering Fame Academy.
Throughout much of 2008 David wrote, played piano and gigged with Dave Gibson (another young singer/songwriter from Glasgow who has recently signed to Colombia) and in October 2008 they both performed at the ScotsCare charity gig at the Bedford in London.
In 2009 David continues to persue a career as songwriter in partnership with fellow ex-Sham member Jay Mein. The two of them recently signed a new deal with SonyATV.

Don't Let Go
David Sneddon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's been so long, it seems like I've run dry
Something in your eyes tonight
Looked into my soul
Saw the years of breakin down had taken its toll
So I'm leaning on you now and to the night.
Don't let go
Don't want to let you go.
Now I'm on the rocks I see your light
And I don't need my wings to take this flight
I know I can fly
Nothing happens on its own, fate is just a word
You make me a better man, does that sound absurd?
And you looked into my eyes and sofly said
Don't let go
Don't let go
Don't want to let you go
You are the light in me
Pull me in and set me free
You always let me know
Hold me tight and don't let go.
Don't let go
Don't let go
Don't want to let you go
Don't let go
Don't let go
Don't want to let you go
The song "Don't Let Go" by David Sneddon talks about a relationship where one partner has been through a lot of pain and struggles and needs the other to hold on to them tightly. The opening lines of the song, "I don't even know if I can cry, it's been so long, it seems like I've run dry" convey a person's emotional state of feeling empty after going through tough times for a long period. But then, something special happens- "Something in your eyes tonight looked into my soul, [you] saw the years of breaking down had taken its toll." This is where the person realizes that the other person is there for them and they don't have to go through everything alone. And the main message of the song is conveyed in the chorus - "Don't let go."
The second verse mentions that the other person in the relationship is like a light for them, and they don't need anyone or anything else to help them because they know they can fly. The lyrics go on to say that "You make me a better man, does that sound absurd?" revealing that the other person is aware of the positive impact they have on them. Once again, the chorus comes in repeating, "Don't let go" as a plea to not leave their side.
Overall, the song beautifully depicts the importance of a strong bond in a relationship and how it can help people overcome difficult times.
