Twilight
Day and Night Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To the dark days
My gaze was stuck on you
In the future
You'll read Nietzsche
And realise there's nothing you can do
In the summer
As we laid there
In the twilight
Of a past life
This could be the end of me and you
I look back-ways
To the dark days
My gaze was stuck on you
The lyrics of Day and Night's song "Twilight" speak of reminiscing about a past relationship and the feelings associated with it. The first two lines "I look back-ways to the dark days" express a longing to revisit the past and the memories associated with it. The following line "My gaze was stuck on you" indicates the intensity of emotions felt during the relationship.
The lyrics then describe the future as the person reading Nietzsche, a philosopher known for nihilism and existentialism. The line "And realise there's nothing you can do" hints at the futility of trying to control one's destiny. The next stanza describes a beautiful moment that the couple shared in the summer, lying together with the curtains open as the sun shone through. However, the next line "In the twilight of a past life" indicates that this moment belongs to the past, and the relationship is now over.
The final stanza is a repetition of the first, emphasizing the desire to revisit the past and the intense emotions associated with it. The use of the word "twilight" throughout the song adds a melancholic tone, as it represents the end of something beautiful but also the hope of something new beginning.

TWILIGHT grabado un solo álbum en 1975 y realmente fue una muy buena banda formada por estudiantes de la Ciudad de "Bonn", e hizo un ROCK Progresivo con psicodelia y sinfónicos.
Excelente disco

Like a mix of early Kansas and Sky...and some of the ballads of Focus...yes,that sounds more like psychedelic symphonic prog ! And really remains bands like Kansas,Argent and other AOR bands of the mid seventies ! I always liked also some of the softer bands like Uriah Heep,Omega,America,Nazareth and Thin Lizzy...it was more relaxed and less angry and agressive...okay,i like it heavy but my heart has big space for good ballads and anyone knows, the scorpions and black sabbath had tons of great ballads in their package, good that this style didnt disappear totally from the screens (because we are living in harder times in the moment) ;)
