This Town Is Ours
Deaf Havana Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm gonna tell you right now
We're gonna make it in this town
And when our eyes are heavy
We're gonna keep it steady

When are eyes are set on the above
When the push comes to shove
We have such divine inhibitions
We're gonna tell you and you will listen

Well for what it's worth
It sure as Hell ain't worth a lot (x2)

We're gonna keep sleeping on these rooftops
And you'll never get us down, and you'll never get me down
We're gonna keep singing all our own songs
And you'll never get us down, and you'll never get me down

We're gonna stay like this forever
Because the more friends that you have the better
I'm gonna let you know the whole truth
That it ain't worth nothing without the proof

Your face was all so terribly priceless
And I'm ever so sorry I missed it
I know you didn't mean it
But I'll settle for a smile as long as you clean it

And for what it's worth
It sure as Hell ain't worth a lot (x2)

We're gonna keep sleeping on these rooftops
And you'll never get us down, and you'll never get me down
We're gonna keep singing all our own songs
And you'll never get us down, and you'll never get me down

Get me down
You'll never get me down
Get me down

We're gonna keep singing all our own songs
Our own songs
We're gonna keep singing all our own songs

Yeah!!

We're gonna keep sleeping on these rooftops
And you'll never get us down, and you'll never get me down
We're gonna keep singing all our own songs
And you'll never get us down, and you'll never get me down

You'll never get me down
And you'll never get us down, and you'll never get me down
We're gonna keep singing all our own songs
And you'll never get us down, and you'll never get me down

Get me down

Overall Meaning

The song "This Town Is Ours" by Deaf Havana speaks of a sense of unity and defiance in the face of adversity. The singer declares that they will make it in their town no matter what, and that even when things get tough, they'll stay strong and determined. The lyrics also touch on the idea that it's not enough to just have lofty goals or dreams; one must also have the evidence and actions to back them up. The repeated line "for what it's worth, it sure as Hell ain't worth a lot" drives home the idea that success is only as valuable as the effort put into achieving it.

The chorus of the song, with its repeated declaration that the singer and their friends will keep sleeping on rooftops and singing their own songs, emphasizes a sense of solidarity and independence. They refuse to be brought down by anyone or anything, and instead will keep pushing forward towards their goals.

Overall, "This Town Is Ours" is a rallying cry for anyone who feels like an underdog or outsider, urging them to keep fighting for their dreams and to stay true to their own vision.
