Decree's sound has varied a lot over the space of two cds. WOD comes on at times like test dept. on some really nasty drugs, and at other times like a harsh dark ambient/noise/drone-fest. Their second offering, "Moment of Silence" brings both beats and guitars into the mix. This album varies from drum and bass breakbeats to harder industrial metal-influenced pieces, with less in the way of the noisy drones.
After all these years the third offering by Decree is a long awaited album "Fateless" which was released on May 2011. Once again Chris Peterson has managed to build a wall of pounding rythms and angry noise industrial exhibited throughout the album.
Talons Grasp
Decree Lyrics

A serpent coiled
The curse of crow
In accent hoarse
Drawn to despair
Orchard of bone
Doomed to endure
The woven word
Dread me inspire
Eternal fire
That inward burns
Dare we descend?
This drama dire
These cursed words
Of labored phrase
Immersed in verse
So fate decrees
Eternal flame
We ever reign
In tempest torn
The stress of storm
With horns of scorn
The black air scourged

Despite the direness of the situation, the singer is still tempted to descend and become immersed in this cursed world of labored phrase.
The theme of the lyrics appears to be one of fatalism and inevitability. The characters are cursed and doomed to suffer, and there is a sense that their fate has already been sealed.
