people work and people slave and piss their lives away
people taking and never getting it's all the same old shit
while everything around us is crubling bit by bit
you fuck right off if you think that i 'll play a part
in this system that was doomed right from the start
a system built on slavery, domination, and degradation
production and consumption and over all corruption
in this system that takes your life away
you can rock the boat or rock the vote the choice is up to you
but i won't put faith in those who are fucking me and you
i don't give a shit if the system falls to peices
if it all stops if it all ceases
it's not getting any better and it couldn't get much worse
the only hope and dream i have is to watch it all destroyed
(Chorus:)
there ain't no future and there ain't no hope
for humankind or change within the system
there ain't no future and there ain't no hope
in a fucked up system that takes your life away
there ain't no future and there ain't no hope
rules and regulations getting in our way
there ain't no future and there ain't no hope
the only hope and dream i have is to watch it all destroyed
The lyrics of Defiance's song No Future No Hope are a scathing criticism of the current system which they believe is designed to oppress and exploit people. The repeated phrase "there ain't no future and there ain't no hope" serves as a bleak reminder that the current state of affairs is unlikely to improve in any meaningful way. The verses describe the monotony of everyday life where people work and slave away without any hope of improving their lot in life. The singer is not willing to play a part in this system which he believes is only leading to degradation and corruption. The system is portrayed as being built on slavery and domination. The singer believes that people are being taken advantage of and exploited by those who are in power. He is not inclined to put his faith in the politicians who he believes are not working in the interest of the common people.
The chorus emphasizes the point that there is no future or hope within the existing system. Rules and regulations are preventing people from realizing their full potential, and the only hope for change is to see the system destroyed. The use of the word 'ain't' repeatedly conveys the frustration felt by the band and their belief that nothing is improving. The message is clear - people cannot rely on the current system to provide them with a better future or any hope at all. The song is a call for people to take responsibility for their own lives and to stop expecting change from those in power. It is a call for people to take action and fight against the existing system that is only serving to oppress them.
