Haddon began his recording career in the mid 90s with the Voices of Unity on the small Tyscot label. As the group leader for their three albums, Haddon expressed his forward looking musical view, merging elements of soul, hip-hop and funk in the group's Gospel music. VOU had some mild success on the Gospel charts, but by the late 90s Haddon was ready to move more clearly front and center as a solo artist. His first two solo albums, This is My Story and Chainbreaker continued his artistic development and made some moderate noise on the Gospel charts.
However, Iβm not sure that even the devoted fan base he had been accumulating could have anticipated his late 2002 release, Lost and Found, his first on giant Gospel label Verity. A project as ambitious as Tonexβs noted debut, Pronounced Toe-Nay, Lost and Found is an exhaustive, inspired opus by a Gospel artist who, with its release, clearly declared himself a new Gospel star.
The disc begins sounding like a dance Gospel album, leading off with two funky numbers, βD.D.β and βOh Yeahβ (the latter featuring the ubiquitous Fred Hammond). From there it covers broad territory, including bluesy, southern soul (βAinβt Got Nothingβ and the radio hit, βSinnerβs Prayerβ), Praise & Worship (βWorship Medleyβ), Prince-style electric soul (βItβs Meβ), big ballads (βStand Stillβ) and joyous calypso (βThe Praises Go (Up, Up, Up)β). Haddon is literally bursting with musical ideas on the album and, amazingly, virtually all work. Equally impressive is the strong lyrical content of the disc β much of it autobiographical -- focusing principally on the power of redemption and the ability of faith to rescue lost or miscast souls.
It took me almost two months to review Lost and Found, mostly because it took so long to fully absorb such an ambitious project. Now I can clearly say that this stands, with Mary Maryβs βThankfulβ and Tonexβs βO2,β as perhaps the definitive modern Gospel album of this decade, and is a must for both Soul and Gospel lovers.

I Need Your Help
Deitrick Haddon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In Your presence by myself, its You and me Lord and no one else, and I don't have to say a whole lot of things.
You already know I need Your help, my enemies want to see me fall, so they can say I told you so.
Mmmm, Lord I don't mean to bother You with my small problems, but there is no where else I can go.
Ooohhh,oooohhh,oooohhh,oooohhh,ooohhhh.
Hook:
Verse 2:
Lord at thy feet I fall, and Lord I surrender all, and if You can forgive me of my sins, I know that I can start all over again, hey,
Oohhh,oooohhh,ooohh,oooohhh
You got it now sing it with me...
Hook:
Lord (Say I) I (I really do) need (yeah) Your help
(I tried to do it on my own but I found out)
Lord (I need) I (I need ya) need Your help
Bridge:
I traveled long on every side, there's no where to run or hide, won't You hear my humble cry (yeah!)
Hook:
Lord I need your help (x4)
The song "I Need Your Help" by Deitrick Haddon is a powerful prayer to God for assistance during difficult times. The first verse establishes the intimate connection between the singer and God. In God's presence, the singer feels safe and secure, and can express their need for help without fear of judgment. The verse also reveals that the singer is facing opposition from their enemies, who want to see them fail. The hook of the song, which simply repeats the phrase "Lord, I need your help," emphasizes the centrality of this request in the singer's mind.
The second verse shifts from describing the singer's need for help to a confession of sin and a desire to start anew. The bridge of the song calls out to God with humility and desperation, acknowledging that there is nowhere else to turn. The song ends with a powerful reassertion of the singer's need for God's help.
Overall, "I Need Your Help" is a deeply personal and emotional song that speaks to the universal human experience of relying on a higher power during times of trouble.

Bulelwa Mongo remember He takes a length of timeβit does not matter what length the period is, generally our lifetimeβand then He fills it with tests. He sprinkles it liberally with tests to see what kind of decisions we are going to make. He gives us instructions in various levels of understanding, and then He gives us tests every once in a while to see how well we have taken in what He has given us. He wants to see whether we have absorbed these things into practice in our lives. Whether in practicing them we have actually ingrained them into our character. If you feel God has gone far away, ask yourself one question, "Who moved?"
God sure did not! He says right here, "I am with you."
If we feel that God has gone far away, actually the distance that we are feeling is because of our own unfaithfulness to the covenant, not to His. He works His end out perfectly every time.
He is there. It is one of His names. It is what He told Abraham when He had to sacrifice Isaac. "Do not worry, Abraham. I am here." For whatever we have to do, whatever tests come up, whatever pit we get cast into, He is there with us. All we have to do is draw upon that strength, because nothing happens to His people that He has not had His hand in!
So, if He has cast us down, there is a good reason for it. That is when we need to say, "There's something wrong with me. Let me get back to the covenant, get back to the love of God, get back to all the things that I need to do to be at His side." Hebrews 13:5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
As we have said before, in the Greek that is five negatives.
"I will never, never, never, never, never leave you!"
I think more literally, it is, "I will never leave you, no, nor I will never forsake you." It is very emphatic. "Never will I leave you! Never will I forsake you! I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Hebrews 13:6 So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"
We have no need to worry. Is that not part of the Sermon on the Mount?
"Why do you worry about what you are going to eat? And drink? Why do you worry about what you are going to wear? Why do you worry about your house? Why do you worry about money, and all these things that are just distracting you from the true life that I have given you the opportunity to live? Be satisfied with what I have given you. I will take care of those things. You just seek first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and I have plenty in heaven of these things to give you."
All these things, He says, will be added unto you. Do not worry. There is a great deal of encouragement in the fact that the God of all the universe is there. If we live our lives in subjection to Himβsatisfied, or as it says here, content with the things that He has providedβwe have no reason to doubt His faithfulness.
This book is a testament to His faithfulness. He never gives up. He is not a man that He should give up.
He will never leave us. That is a promise. He will never give up on us. With this confidence that we should have, we can boldly stride forward without fear toward the hope of the resurrection, and our certain entrance into the Kingdom of God, if we continue in this way.
