Haddon began his recording career in the mid 90s with the Voices of Unity on the small Tyscot label. As the group leader for their three albums, Haddon expressed his forward looking musical view, merging elements of soul, hip-hop and funk in the group's Gospel music. VOU had some mild success on the Gospel charts, but by the late 90s Haddon was ready to move more clearly front and center as a solo artist. His first two solo albums, This is My Story and Chainbreaker continued his artistic development and made some moderate noise on the Gospel charts.
However, I’m not sure that even the devoted fan base he had been accumulating could have anticipated his late 2002 release, Lost and Found, his first on giant Gospel label Verity. A project as ambitious as Tonex’s noted debut, Pronounced Toe-Nay, Lost and Found is an exhaustive, inspired opus by a Gospel artist who, with its release, clearly declared himself a new Gospel star.
The disc begins sounding like a dance Gospel album, leading off with two funky numbers, “D.D.” and “Oh Yeah” (the latter featuring the ubiquitous Fred Hammond). From there it covers broad territory, including bluesy, southern soul (“Ain’t Got Nothing” and the radio hit, “Sinner’s Prayer”), Praise & Worship (“Worship Medley”), Prince-style electric soul (“It’s Me”), big ballads (“Stand Still”) and joyous calypso (“The Praises Go (Up, Up, Up)”). Haddon is literally bursting with musical ideas on the album and, amazingly, virtually all work. Equally impressive is the strong lyrical content of the disc – much of it autobiographical -- focusing principally on the power of redemption and the ability of faith to rescue lost or miscast souls.
It took me almost two months to review Lost and Found, mostly because it took so long to fully absorb such an ambitious project. Now I can clearly say that this stands, with Mary Mary’s “Thankful” and Tonex’s “O2,” as perhaps the definitive modern Gospel album of this decade, and is a must for both Soul and Gospel lovers.

Jesus For President
Deitrick Haddon Lyrics

Let me hear ya'll say...
I vote JESUS!
Can I nominate, the canidate, who's actions speak louder than His words? Who else would lay down His life for His people, But Jesus Christ? And I know you've heard...
How He healed the sick, and raised the dead.
Thousands of hungry folks He fed. All in favor of Jesus say "I".
"I"...
He's the only man for the job. He's number one in my eyes.
He will fight for His people, until the end.
All of His promises are true.
Every word He says, He will do.
I vote Jesus!!
Now, every election. We look to man, and they always let us down.
We thought change was coming, with the last pesident.
We were better off back then, than we are right now.
And poverty, in our country. Is at an all time high.
When we're supposed to be "The land of the free, and the home of the brave". When we're still treating our people like fugitives and slaves.
I vote Jesus, Jesus for president.
He will fight for His people, until the end.
All of his promises are true. Every word He says He will do.
In the song "Jesus For President" by Deitrick Haddon, the artist is making a political commentary on the state of the nation and the leaders that govern it. He is suggesting that people should vote for Jesus as president because He is the only candidate who has proven His loyalty to the people and is committed to fighting for their needs until the end. The lyrics hint at disillusionment with the political system and its leaders' failure to deliver on their promises.
Haddon contrasts Jesus Christ's achievements and qualities with the qualities of the current systems' leaders. Jesus' actions spoke louder than His words, and He was willing to lay down his life for His people. He healed the sick, raised the dead, and fed thousands of hungry people. Jesus' promises are true, and every word He says, He will do, which is a clear contrast to the promises made by politicians that are rarely fulfilled. Haddon is suggesting that Jesus' leadership will bring the change that the country needs since leaders in the past have let the citizens down.
Overall, "Jesus for President" is a political anthem that encourages people to question the leadership of the country and stand up for their rights. Instead of looking to politicians for change, Haddon is suggesting that people should trust Jesus to deliver the change and betterment everyone needs.
