An actress, singer, talk show host, and author, the multi-talented Reese first started singing in church in her hometown of Detroit when she was six years old. By the age of 13, she was touring with gospel great Mahalia Jackson; then, at 18, she formed the Meditation Singers and became the first performer to bring gospel music to the casinos of Las Vegas. Reese expanded her musical repertoire as a vocalist with the Erskine Hawkins Orchestra and began recording albums, with such hits as "Don't You Know" and "And That Reminds Me" in the 1950s. She appeared extensively as a guest on the top television variety series, logging more than 20 appearances in one year on The Ed Sullivan Show on the CBS Television Network. Reese was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Female Soloist in Gospel Music in 1987.
Tapping into her other skills, she was host of a television talk show in 1969-1970, then began guest-starring in such series as Sanford and Son, The A-Team, Crazy Like a Fox and Picket Fences. She starred in the CBS Network series Charlie & Co. and The Royal Family. Reese's current projects include a new album based on her 27-city tour with her revue, "Some of My Best Friends Are the Blues," as well as song on the Touched By An Angel Soundtrack. And the Angels Sing
Della Reese Lyrics

The angels sing the sweetest song I ever heard
You speak, and the angels sing
Or am I breathing music into every word
Suddenly, the setting is strange
I can see water and moonlight beaming
Silver waves that break on some undiscovered shore - Then
Long winter nights with the candles gleaming
Through it all your face that I adore.
You smile, and the angels sing
And though it's just a gentle murmur at the start
We kiss, and the angels sing
And leave their music ringing in my heart.
The lyrics to Della Reese's "And The Angels Sing" convey a sense of enchantment and bliss that comes with meeting someone special. When the two people meet, it feels like the angels are singing, which is reflected in the sweetest melody ever heard. The lyrics also suggest that the person's voice is so mesmerizing that it feels like she is breathing music into every word she speaks. This could signify the power of their connection, which allows them to communicate effortlessly.
As the chorus continues, the song takes a mystical turn, describing a sudden shift in setting from ordinary to surreal. The singer sees water and moonlight beaming on silver waves breaking on an undiscovered shore. This imagery evokes a sense of magic and wonder, as if anything is possible when you are in the presence of someone you care for deeply. The scene eventually shifts to long winter nights with candles gleaming, but through it all, the person's face shines as a beacon of light in the darkness.
The song's closing lines further emphasize the strength of their connection. As they kiss, the angels sing, and the music rings out in the singer's heart. This suggests that their love is not just physical but also spiritual, transcending the limits of time and space to exist in a realm of its own.
