Go Into the Water
Dethklok Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We call out to the beasts of the sea to come forth and join us,
This night is yours
Because, one day we will all be with you in the black and deep
One day we will all go into the water

Go into the water
live there die there
live there die

We reject our earthly fires
Gone are days of land empires
Lungs transform to take in water
Cloaked in scales we swim and swim on

We are alive, and we'll metamorphasize
And we'll sink as we devolve back to beasts
Our home is down here, and we've known this for years
We must conquer from the sea, we build an army with water steeds

We'll rise, from our depths down below
Release yourselves, drown with me
We will conquer land with water

Gone are days of land empires
Lungs transform to take in water
Cloaked in scales we swim and swim on

We swim on
We swim on

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Dethklok's Go Into the Water may be interpreted in different ways, but one possible meaning behind this song is a call to embrace our primitive nature and to let go of the trappings of modern civilization. The first stanza speaks of a desire to join the creatures of the sea, to leave behind the land and its limitations. This can be seen as a metaphor for a yearning to return to a simpler, more natural way of life, to shed the trappings of technology and materialism and to reconnect with the natural world.

The second stanza reinforces this theme, with its rejection of earthly fires and land empires. The notion that "lungs transform to take in water" suggests a fundamental transformation of human beings, to become more like the creatures of the sea. This transformation is seen as a positive thing, a metamorphosis that allows us to "swim on" and conquer from the sea. In this sense, the song can also be seen as a call to resistance against the dominant paradigm, to reject the status quo and to embrace a more radical, revolutionary worldview.

Overall, Go Into the Water can be seen as an anthem for those who reject the status quo and seek to connect with something deeper and more primal. The song challenges us to abandon our preconceptions and embrace our wild and untamed side, to let go of our fears and dive into the unknown depths of life.

I was partying at a buddies house when the pilot episode of Metalocalypse came on. When the stage missed its target and landed on the fans, then opened up crushing more of the fans I laughed my ass off, Then the single most metal coffee jingle I ever heard assaulted my ears and I was an instant fan.
