Like Someone In Love

Hearing guitars like someone in love
Sometimes the things I do astound me
Mostly whenever you're around me
Lately I seem to walk as though I had wings
Bump into things like someone in love
Each time I look at you
I'm limp as a glove
Lately I seem to walk as though I had wings
Bump into things like someone in love
Each time I look at you
I'm limp as a glove
And feeling like someone
Feeling like someone
Feeling like someone in love
The lyrics in Diana Krall's Like Someone In Love convey the feeling of being ecstatically in love. The singer describes how her infatuation with someone makes her lose sense of reality, visibly impaired and deliriously happy. The opening line paints a vivid imagery of the singer gazing at the stars and hearing guitars, which is symbolic of how the person she’s in love with affects her senses. Whenever the subject of her affection is near her, she’s amazed by the things she does. The line “Mostly whenever you’re around me” is proof that the singer’s feeling of being in love is as instantaneous as it is consuming.
The second stanza reiterates that the singer is so lovestruck that she appears to be walking with wings, bumping into objects. At the same time, she’s limp and vulnerable around the person she loves, giving herself over to them entirely. The last line of the song is about how this feeling of love has taken over her completely, and she now feels like someone in love.
