24 Hours
Discipline Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've been gone way too long, locked up inside.
I've been there and done that, I've been there all the way.
Now I'm just lonely, lost and sick, I just gotta get away.
24 Hours away
24 Hours to go
24 Hours and I'll be back
I've paid my debts, I've done my time, never never again.
Loneliness is killing me but finally it's coming to an end.
Just hold on a littler longer, I've done my time, I've had my share.
24 Hours and then it´s over, I'm never gonna back there
The opening verse of Discipline's "24 Hours" features themes of loneliness and desolation, as the singer laments being "locked up inside" and "lost and sick." The singer declares that they need to "get away" from their current state of mind, indicating that they are in some sort of mental prison. The chorus, which repeats twice throughout the song, provides a glimmer of hope as it details the singer's imminent return home. The repetition of "24 Hours" conveys a sense of urgency and excitement as the singer counts down the hours until they're free from their isolation.
In the second verse, the singer declares that they've "paid their debts" and "done their time," suggesting that they were in some sort of physical imprisonment, such as jail or rehab. They vow to never "go back there" again, indicating that this was a transformative experience that they don't intend to repeat. The singer implores their loved ones to "hold on a little longer," as their time away is almost over. Overall, "24 Hours" is a song about the struggle to overcome personal obstacles, whether they be mental or physical. The repeated chorus serves as a reminder that no matter how difficult the journey, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
