Дом
Distemper Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The song "Дом" by Distemper depicts an abandoned and boarded-up house where no one lives anymore. The first verse talks about how there is no need to knock on the door because no one will answer. The house is empty and devoid of any warmth or light. It has lost all its value and is now worth nothing.
The second verse describes the state of the house. The floors creak and the roof leaks, and it seems as though no one has taken care of it for a long time. The singer says that not everyone can brave the cold and enter the house without fear. Life often throws surprises at us, and we must be ready for it.
The chorus talks about how many people used to come to this house in the past. It was once loved and cherished but now forgotten. There were times when they welcomed someone through an open window, and then suddenly closed all the doors in front of everyone. The song implies that this house is a metaphor for something that was once valuable but was abandoned and forgotten over time.
