The trio is currently ranked as the highest-selling female musical group in the USA, according to RIAA Gold & Platinum album certifications. As of 2012, The Chicks had won 13 Grammy Awards. While The Chicks continues, Maguire and Robison are writing and recording as Court Yard Hounds as of Feb 2010. The Dixie Chicks renamed the band in 2020 to The Chicks dropping Dixie from the official name as the name had the word 'Dixie' referencing the American Mason–Dixon line, which separated the free and slave-owning southern states.
Robin Lynn Macy was an original bandmember, as was Laura Lynch. Macy left the group in 1992, while Lynch was replaced by Natalie Maines in 1995.
The group aroused considerable controversy for publicly denouncing President George W. Bush and the imminent invasion of Iraq during the European leg of their Top of the World tour supporting Home. Many country music stations immediately pulled their music from the air, and the band received criticism from many corners of the media.

Dixie Chicks Lyrics

Commin' from my mouth
You say that I lack the proof
Well baby there might be some
I'm gonna get to the end of my life
Find out everyone was lying
I dont think that I'm afraid anymore
Say that I would rather die trying
Chorus
Woah, Swing me way down south
Sing me something brave from your mouth
And I'll bring you pearls of water on my hips
And the love in my lips
All the love from my lips
This time when he swung the bat
and i found my self laying falt
I wonder
What a way to spend a dime
what a way to use the time
Aint it baby?
I looked at my reflection
in the window walking past and I saw a stranger
Just so scared all the time
It makes me one more reason why
the world's dangerous
Chorus
(Music Solos)
You dont lie the sound of the truth
comming from my mouth
You say that I lack the proof
Baby there might be some
Tell me whats wrong with having a little faith
In what your feeling in your heart
Why must we be so afraid
and always so far apart?
Chorus
The lyrics of Dixie Chicks's song Truth No. 2 depict a woman who is no longer afraid of speaking the truth even if it might be difficult for others to come to terms with. There is a sense of defiance in her words when she says that she does not care if people do not believe her because she is going to live her life her way. She is determined to find out the truth about people's intentions and actions in her life, even if it means that she might have to face some unpleasant realities. She believes that life is too short to be afraid and would rather die trying than live in fear. The chorus of the song is a plea for someone to be brave and honest with her, while she promises to offer them her love in return.
The second verse of the song is about a physical attack that the woman has faced. Despite being knocked down, she reflects on the fragility of life and wonders about the value of time. She sees herself as a stranger in her own reflection because she is so filled with fear. This experience has made her believe that the world is a dangerous place. The song concludes with the woman asking why people cannot have a little faith in what they feel in their hearts and why there is always such a distance between them.

However, there could be some proof out there
I'm gonna get to the end of my life
Before I die
Find out everyone was lying

Isn't it, my dear?
I looked at my reflection
I gazed upon my own image
in the window walking past and I saw a stranger
In the window as I walked by, and I seemed like a stranger
Just so scared all the time
I am always frightened
It makes me one more reason why
This reinforces my belief that
the world's dangerous
The world is perilous
Tell me whats wrong with having a little faith
Is there anything wrong with having a bit of belief?
In what your feeling in your heart
In what you sense in your heart
Why must we be so afraid
Why are we compelled to feel frightened?
and always so far apart?
And why are we always so distanced from one other?

When Radio stations in America banned their music this Country Boy was home in Jamaica jamming to his favorite "Chicks" nonstop..lol. Their own people threatened to kill your sweet sound and great music over stuppid politics...smh. I just cant get enough of Natalie's voice. Her mezmeric tones thrill me time and time again and Marty and Emily are so talented and beautiful. Sweet sweet Country Music!!!

The Dixie Chicks took much hate but THEY were the outliers of a comming truth.
@seanjenkins331
Natalie's voice is like gold and hasn't changed at all, probably has gotten better over time
@mitchybabe8154
You're right. Lots of singers lose their voice with age but she still has it
@erwinzerbe7121
Best Female Band ever. Nothing else like them. Their musicianship and vocal ability is outstanding. Their harmonies are second to none and so skilful with Emily harmonising below Natalie's melody line and Marty harmonising above Natalie's melody line. This is a skill not so many can perfect with three part harmony, which sets the Dixie Chicks apart from others who try it. Well done Natalie, Emily and Marty.
