They were formed in Tokyo in 1999, and debuted as a trio the same year with 長尾大 (Dai Nagao) as composer and leader. In 2003 their greatest hits album Do The Best achieved million sales in Japan.
The group disbanded in September 2005 and performed their last live concert at the Nippon Budokan. Each member moved onto other musical projects: Tomiko Van began a solo career; Ryo Owatari dedicated his time to the 3-piece band Missile Innovation and supporting other bands/artists on guitars; and Dai Nagao continued acting as a composer for various Avex Trax artists.
After 3 years of inactivity, the band announced their comeback on September 29, 2008 (the same day they originally began activities as a band and the same day they disbanded in 2005).
Do As Infinity Lyrics

Woo
Woo
The lyrics of Do As Infinity's song 火の鳥 (Phoenix) depict a moment of awakening at the break of dawn, where the singer is uncertain whether the experience is a dream or reality, leaving behind a warm lingering image. In the midst of misty rain and smoke, the singer finds themselves standing at a crossroads, overwhelmed by a rush of memories and closing their eyes, taking a single breath in the silence. Only the heartbeat thumps incessantly, as if determined to keep the singer from straying.
As the sun shines, a river of tears are shed, and you, being the beloved, set off on a journey, embracing the tailwind. Like a lost bird, you soar higher and higher, while the sadness of fleeting time fades like a mirage, gradually disappearing. It highlights the fleeting nature of life, where everyone is caught up in the midst of a ticking clock, entangled by various obligations. The lyrics metaphorically express the desire to break free from these confinements, akin to shaking off a spider's web, and desperately yearning to spread wet wings, as if wanting to fan away the dampness.
From the top of the branches, the singer had been gazing at tomorrow, an optimistic outlook on the future. Woo. Embracing the burning sunrise with their whole being, you take flight far, far away like a phoenix. It symbolizes the proof of the love shared between the singer and the beloved. Holding everything tightly, the song bids farewell right here.
