It's Natures Way
Dollar Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When your dreams hit the floor
You make your decision
But you can't hide when your heart calls
This is my confession
(You always make me do what I don't want to)
Now I've learnt my lesson
(I don't know what to do thinking about you)
[Chorus]
You can't run or hide from the tears inside
No matter what you say it's only nature's way
And sometimes in your life it's such a lonely climb
And no one takes the blame it's only nature's way
It's nature's way nature's way nature's way
It's no problem no problem don't bother me
It's thunder and lightning
With every beat of your heart
You may wish it were over
But we both knew right from the start
This is my confession
(You always make me do what I don't want to)
Now I've learnt my lesson
(I don't know what to do thinking about you)
Repeat chorus
It's nature's way nature's way nature's way
It's no problem no problem it's here to stay
What is the future
What is the point in making any plans when you're never here
You always build my hopes my dreams
Nothing with you is ever what it seems
Repeat chorus
It's nature's way nature's way nature's way
It's no problem no problem it's here to stay
You can't run or hide from the tears inside
No matter what you say (don't bother me)
And sometimes in your life it's such a lonely climb
And no one takes the blame (it's here to stay)
[Repeat to fade]
The lyrics of "It's Nature's Way" by Dollar examine the inexplicable and immutable workings of nature in our lives. The singer suggests that when our dreams fail, and we make decisions about people and the course of our lives, we can't hide from our emotions or our heart's calling. These lines speak to the unpredictable and often uncontrollable force of nature that shapes our path in life. The chorus drives the theme deeper by emphasizing that "no matter what you say" or "sometimes in your life it's such a lonely climb" there is faultless, self-regulating force in nature that is beyond our control.
The use of thunder and lightning, as metaphors for the human heart's rhythm, in the second verse conveys the intensity of our experiences when we involve ourselves with nature. Despite the inevitable pain suffered when nature takes its course, the singer has come to terms with its implacable nature, becomes unburdened and accepts it as "no problem" once acknowledging, "now I've learnt my lesson." In the final verse, they ponder the point of making plans when the future is so unpredictable and reiterate that things are not always as they seem, no matter how much we invest in them.
