Love that's never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Saviour
The hope of the nations
Saviour, He can move the mountains
He is mighty to save
Forever author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave
So take me as You find me
All my fears and failures
Fill my life again
I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in
Now surrender
Saviour, He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave
Shine Your light and
Let the whole world see
We're singing
For the glory of the risen King
Jesus
Shine Your light and
Let the whole world see
We're singing
For the glory of the risen King
Saviour, He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave
Saviour, He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave
Shine Your light and
Let the whole world see
We're singing
For the glory of the risen King
Jesus
Shine Your light and
Let the whole world see
We're singing
For the glory of the risen King
The lyrics of Don Moen's "Mighty to Save" speaks of the universal need for compassion, forgiveness, and salvation. The song starts by acknowledging that everyone needs a love that does not fail and mercy that falls on them. The message is clear that regardless of our background, we all require a savior. The author then declares that the savior is mighty and capable of moving mountains. The idea is that we have a powerful God who can handle any challenge that comes our way. The song also highlights the author's surrender to God, letting Him fill his life again. The author recognizes that God is the author of salvation, and Jesus conquered the grave, emphasizing the power of the resurrection. The final stanza talks about shining the light of Jesus to the world so that everyone can see and join in singing for the glory of the risen King.
One interesting fact about the song is that it was written by two songwriters, Ben Fielding and Reuben Morgan, both members of the Hillsong worship team. The song was released in 2006 on the "Mighty to Save" album, and it quickly became popular, winning a Dove Award in 2009. The song has also been covered by different artists and has been translated into various languages, including Chinese, Korean, and Spanish. Moreover, the song speaks of the power of salvation and redemption, which is a recurring theme in many gospel centered songs.
Another unique aspect of the song is the consistent use of imagery. The metaphor of 'moving mountains' is used throughout the song to demonstrate how powerful our God is. The author also uses light as a potent symbol to illustrate the impact of Jesus in our lives. The light of Jesus enables us to shine in the world for everyone to see, and this is evident in the way the author emphasizes the phrase, 'let the whole world see' in the song.
Despite its popularity, some have criticized the song's lack of depth, calling it a simple cliched song. However, the song's simplicity is its strength, as it speaks to the heart of the Christian message and emphasizes the need for a savior, forgiveness, and redemption.
Chords:
Verse 1 & 2: D, A, Em G
Chorus: D, A, Em, G
Bridge: G, D, A, Bm, G, D, A
In conclusion, "Mighty to Save" is a powerful and simple song that emphasizes the need for salvation, forgiveness, and redemption. The song's message is clear, and its imagery makes it easy to connect with its themes. It's not surprising that the song has gained popularity worldwide and has been covered by different artists.
