Me vuelvo hacia ti
Tu te duermes yo me quedo solo
Pareces estar
Muy lejos de aquí
Creo que andas viajando
De algun modo
Ella se vuelve Alondra
Me deja solo y se va a volar
Uuuuhhhhh
Un espíritu amigo
Dice que vino para ayudarla a cruzar el mar
Uuuuhhhhh
Si pasas por la habana
Traeme flores
Ayúdame a vivir sin tus amores
Apago la luz
Me vuelvo hacia ti
Tu te duermes yo me quedo solo
Pareces estar
Tan lejos de aquí
Creo que andas viajando
De algun modo
Ella se vuelve Alondra
En la madrugada
Me deja solo y se va a volar
Uuuuhhhhh
Un espíritu amigo
Dice que vino para ayudarla a cruzar el mar
Uuuuhhhhh
Si pasas por la habana
Traeme flores
Ayúdame a vivir sin tus amores
Si pasas por Centro Habana
No olvides traerme flores
Si yo me muero mañana
Yo no quiero que me llores
Ay, ayúdame a vivir
Sin tus amores
Sin mi tierra
Pues desde que yo me fui
No hago más que pensar en ella
Alondra sin tus amores
Me invade la soledad
No olvides traerme flores
Si pasas por Trinidad
Por Trinidad
The lyrics of Donato Poveda's song "Alondra" tell the story of a man who is left alone while his partner, Alondra, seems to be travelling and disconnected from him. He turns off the lights and watches her sleep, but she feels far away from him. In the middle of the night, Alondra becomes a bird and flies away, helped by a friendly spirit. The man asks for flowers from anyone passing through Havana, and he pleads for help living without Alondra's love. He cannot forget her, and he wants someone to bring him flowers if they pass through Trinidad.
