Born in Chicago, Illinois, Jones' upbringing was rough. He struggled between wanting to be a musician and to be a member of a street gang. After a brush with death, Jones left the gang and focused on a music career forming the group Porscha. However, Jones was gaining notice as a writer penning songs for established R&B acts such as Usher, producing the singer's 1995 hit, "Think of You", 702's "Get It Together" and also wrote for groups such as Brownstone and Silk.
In 1996, he signed with LaFace Records and released his debut album, My Heart, which included his hit cover of Stevie Wonder's 1976 ballad "Knocks Me Off My Feet". It wasn't until 1999 however that Jones began to establish himself as a R&B hit maker with the album, Where I Wanna Be. The album yielded the number-one hits such as "U Know What's Up", which featured TLC member Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes and the title track. Other hits included "Shorty (Got Her Eyes on Me)" and "This Luv".
In 2002, Jones released the gold-selling Life Goes On album, which featured the hits, "You Know That I Love You" and "Put Me Down" featuring Styles P.. Four years later, he released his fourth album, Journey of a Gemini, which featured the Tim & Bob hit, "I'm Gonna Be", which became a big hit on Urban AC. Jones is currently writing songs for Usher, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey on their upcoming albums.

It's about to get physical
It's just you and me on a late night creep
Plan on making you moan
But first lets get the mood right
I got the '76 dom perignon
And a dime bag of smoke so lets get it on
We're gonna do it tonight
Don't worry bout a thing
It's OK, its alright
We're gonna do it tonight
Get the bath water ready
Its about to get kinky
I imagine that body so soft
I won't know till you take you're clothes off
Don't be afraid
I wanna be you're sex slave
Give you sum lovin, kissin, and huggin'
You won't ask for nothin'
It's OK,its alright
We're gonna do it tonight
Don't worry bout a thing
It's OK, its alright
We're gonna do it tonight
Whateva we do ain't leaven here
I got a millon ways to love you
I'll be gentle so there's no need to fear
So come over here
I've been waiting for this for so long
Seems like I can't hold back this feeling
I'm on a mission to make you moan
So come, come on, come on
Its OK,its alright
We're gonna do it tonight
Don't worry bout a thing
Its OK, its alright
We're gonna do it tonight
The lyrics to Donell Jones’s song "It's Alright" are a steamy description of a late-night romantic encounter between two individuals. The song’s narrative takes the form of a conversation between the two parties involved and is dominated by vivid, sexually charged imagery. It’s clear that the singers intend to engage in sexual activity, as the singer describes his desire to “make [the other person] moan”, and mentions preparing a bath for “kinky” activities. The singer assures their partner that they need not worry about anything, and that they will be “gentle” with them. The singer emphasizes that they’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time and are now on a mission to please their partner.
Despite its explicit sexual content, the song is nonetheless a celebration of physical intimacy that prioritizes the pleasure of both partners involved. It emphasizes the importance of mutual consent, trust, and communication, as both partners acknowledge and anticipate each other’s desires. The singer reinforces the idea that it is “OK” and “alright” for the two individuals to engage in this kind of sexual activity as long as both parties are consenting and communicating with each other.
