It's All In the Game
Donny Osmond Lyrics

But its all in the game
All in the wonderful game
That we know as love
You have words with him
And your future's looking dim
But these things your heart can rise above
Once in a while he won't call
Soon he'll be there at your side
With a sweet bouquet
And he'll kiss your lips
And caress your waiting fingertips
And your heart will fly away
Many a tear has to fall
But its all in the game
All in the wonderful game
That we know as love
You have words with him
And your future's looking dim
But these things your heart can rise above
Once in a while he won't call
But its all in the game
Soon he'll be there at your side
With a sweet bouquet
And he'll kiss your lips
And caress your waiting fingertips
And your heart will fly away
The lyrics to Donny Osmond's "It's All In The Game" express the ups and downs, joys and sorrows, and hopes and fears that come with romantic love. The song acknowledges that there are times when a person feels lost and alone, but ultimately, love is a wonderful game that provides comfort, joy, and fulfillment.
The opening lines set the stage for the theme of the song: "Many a tear has to fall, but it's all in the game." This suggests that having to shed tears is an inevitable part of love, but ultimately worth it due to the joy and happiness it brings. The words that follow acknowledge that love has its challenges, but it is a wonderful game that we willingly participate in.
The lyrics also portray the emotional rollercoaster that comes with love. At times, one may feel frustrated and discouraged, as experienced in the line "You have words with him, and your future's looking dim." However, the song acknowledges that one's heart can rise above these difficulties and that love prevails through it all.
The chorus repeats the phrase "All in the wonderful game that we know as love," further emphasizing that we all willingly play this game because the rewards are worth the risks. The song ends on a hopeful note, with the suggestion that one's romantic partner will soon return with a sweet bouquet, a kiss, and tenderness towards them, which will make their heart fly away.
