Day's film career began during the latter part of the Classical Hollywood Film era with the 1948 film Romance on the High Seas, and its success sparked her twenty-year career as a motion picture actress. She starred in a series of successful films, including musicals, comedies, and dramas. She played the title role in Calamity Jane (1953), and starred in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) with James Stewart. Her most successful films were the bedroom comedies she made co-starring Rock Hudson and James Garner, such as Pillow Talk (1959) and Move Over, Darling (1963), respectively. She also co-starred in films with such leading men as Clark Gable, Cary Grant, David Niven, and Rod Taylor. After her final film in 1968, she went on to star in the CBS sitcom The Doris Day Show (1968–1973).
Day was usually one of the top ten singers between 1951 and 1966. As an actress, she became the biggest female film star in the early 1960s, and ranked sixth among the box office performers by 2012. In 2011, she released her 29th studio album, My Heart, which became a UK Top 10 album featuring new material. Among her awards, Day has received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a Legend Award from the Society of Singers. In 1960, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, and in 1989 was given the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. In 2004, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush followed in 2011 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Career Achievement Award. She was one of the last surviving stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Her death was announced by her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation, on Monday 13th May 2019.

(Move over darling)
I like it too much
(Move over darling)
That gleam in your eyes
is no big surprise anymore
'Cause you fooled me before
(Move over darling)
About to give in
(Move over darling)
And though it's not right
I'm too weak to fight it somehow
'Cause I want you right now
The way you sigh
has me waving my conscience bye bye
You can call me a fickle thing
But I'm practically yours forever, because
(I yearn to be kissed)
Move over darling
(How can I resist)
Move over darling
You captured my heart
and now that I'm no longer free
Make love to me
The way you sigh
Has me waving my conscience good bye
You can call me a fickle thing
But I'm practically yours forever, because
I yearn to be kissed
(Move over darling)
How can I resist
(Move over darling)
Please give me your love
I'm longing for you
I need all your love, honest I do
You captured my heart
and now that I'm no longer free
Make love to me
(Move over darling)
Make love to me
(Move over darling)
Make love to me
(Move over darling)
Make love to me
(Move over darling)
The lyrics of Doris Day's song Move Over Darling describe a woman who has fallen for someone she knows she shouldn't. In the first stanza, she acknowledges that their lips shouldn't be touching, but she likes it too much to stop. She's been fooled by this person before, but she can't help being drawn back in.
In the second stanza, she admits that she's all in a spin about to give in, even though she knows it's not right. She's too weak to fight her feelings and wants this person right now. The way he sighs makes her conscience go away, and she's practically his forever. She yearns to be kissed and can't resist him. She's no longer free, and she wants him to make love to her.
The song is about giving in to temptation and desire, even though you know it's not the right thing to do. It's a relatable theme, and Doris Day's voice brings a vulnerability and honesty to the lyrics.

The pullback shot at 3:54 (2nd unit direction by Busby Berkley) showing all of the acts en masse is magnificent.
@waynem7634
Once again, although Chuck Walters is credited as Director of this film, we must give credit to the great Busby Berkeley, in the twilight of his career, who choreographed the wonderful musical sequences in Jumbo and is also credited as second unit director. Thank you Busby for decades of musical memories!
