Day's film career began during the latter part of the Classical Hollywood Film era with the 1948 film Romance on the High Seas, and its success sparked her twenty-year career as a motion picture actress. She starred in a series of successful films, including musicals, comedies, and dramas. She played the title role in Calamity Jane (1953), and starred in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) with James Stewart. Her most successful films were the bedroom comedies she made co-starring Rock Hudson and James Garner, such as Pillow Talk (1959) and Move Over, Darling (1963), respectively. She also co-starred in films with such leading men as Clark Gable, Cary Grant, David Niven, and Rod Taylor. After her final film in 1968, she went on to star in the CBS sitcom The Doris Day Show (1968โ1973).
Day was usually one of the top ten singers between 1951 and 1966. As an actress, she became the biggest female film star in the early 1960s, and ranked sixth among the box office performers by 2012. In 2011, she released her 29th studio album, My Heart, which became a UK Top 10 album featuring new material. Among her awards, Day has received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a Legend Award from the Society of Singers. In 1960, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, and in 1989 was given the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. In 2004, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush followed in 2011 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Career Achievement Award. She was one of the last surviving stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Her death was announced by her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation, on Monday 13th May 2019.

Tis Harry I'm Planning to Marry
Doris Day Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
That's a horse from a different safari.
He can box like a fox, he's as dumb as an ox
But it's Harry I'm planning to marry
(Yes, it's Harry she's plannin' to marry)
He's the one that I truly adore
I'm numb, I succumb when he renders
The face on the bar room floor
When he flexes his muscles, I flutter
Like a butterfly caught in a shutter
When he calls me his mate
I just disintegrate
Since the world first began (Since the world first began)
Never been such a man (Never been such a man)
Who could love like he can
So it's Harry I'm planning to marry!
The song 'Tis Harry I'm Plannin' to Marry was sung as a duet by Doris Day and Howard Keel in the 1953 movie "Calamity Jane". The song is a fun and playful tale of a woman who is in love with Harry, despite his flaws.
In the first verse, the singer acknowledges that Harry is not perfect, but she loves him anyway. She compares Harry to a horse from a different safari, which means that he is different from the other men she has met. She describes him as being able to box like a fox (cleverly) but also as dumb as an ox (not very smart). Despite his faults, the singer is still planning to marry him.
In the second verse, the singer explains how much she loves Harry. Her heart is twined around his suspenders, which means that she is completely devoted to him. She is numb and succumbs when he renders the face on the bar room floor, which means that he has the power to make her weak in the knees. She also mentions that when he flexes his muscles, she flutters like a butterfly caught in a shutter.
The chorus repeats the main point of the song, which is that Harry is the man she wants to marry. She believes that there has never been such a man who could love like he can.
