1) The Swiss duo of Felix Haug (drums and keyboards) and Kurt Maloo (guitar and vocals), formerly part of a trio called Ping Pong, scored an international hit in 1986 with the atmospheric ballad “The Captain of Her Heart” (#16 US pop, #4 US AC, #8 UK, #17 Canada) from their debut album Blue. It would be their only substantial hit, with “Devils Ball,” the lead single from 1987 follow-up album Dou3le, stalling at #71 in the UK and failing to chart in the US. The duo split in 1989 and Haug died following a heart attack in 2004.
2) Double is the stage name for Japanese R&B singer Takako Hirasawa and previously was a duo consisting of Hirasawa and her sister, Sachiko. “Shake” was the duo’s highest charting single (#21 Japan). After the death of her sister in May 1999, Takako continued as Double and is regarded as one of the first artists to bring American-style R&B to Japan. She also portrays a sexualized image, a rarity for Japanese artists.

Utatane shite ita mitai gomen
Hitome de sugu ni wakatta
Kaoiro ga yokunai mitai tsukareteru no ne
Even today, the night is deep &
In spite of myself, I seemed to have dozed off... sorry
With a glance, I soon know that you're not looking good;
You're tired, aren't you?
Raku ni shite ite ne
Zenbu yaru kara
Ashita no koto wa ima dake wasurete
Raku ni kiite ite ne
Anata ni hitotsu dake
Tsutaete okitai koto ga aru no
Take it easy, ok?
You do everything, so
Just for now, forget about tomorrow
Relax & listen to me, ok?
There is just 1 thing
I want to say to you
* Saa koko ni kite
Tsukaretara
Sukoshi yasunde ii kara
Hey, come here
If you're tired,
It's ok to rest for a little while
** Saa soba ni kite
Issho nara
Mawarimichi wo shitemo ii
Hey, come to my side
If we're together,
It's ok to take a detour
Ashita mo mata asa ga hayai no wakatte wa iru kedo
Chotto dake
Sasayaka na hanashi ga dekireba
Sore dake de mou shiawase kanjirareru
I know that even tomorrow is an early day, but
If we could talk for a bit,
I can soon feel happy with that alone
Raku ni shite ite ne
Ima zenbu yaru kara
Ato no koto wa makasete hoshii
Raku ni kiite ite ne
Anata ni hitotsu dake
Hanashite okitai koto ga atta kara
Hey, come here, ok?
Right now, you do everything, so
I want you to leave the rest up to me
Relax and listen to me, ok?
There is 1 thing I wanted to talk about
* Repeat
** Repeat
Hi ga shizumikiru mae ni
Kaette kite soshite dakishimete tsuyoku tsuyoku
Sukoshi demo ooku anata to sugosetara
Tada sore dake de ii isogu koto nai
Before the sun sets,
Come back home and hold me tightly, tightly
When I can spend some time mainly with you,
Just that will do, there's no rush
* Repeat
** Repeat
The song "Okaeri" by Double is a soulful and comforting plea to a loved one who seems to be overwhelmed and tired. The lyrics speak to the singer's understanding of their loved one's exhaustion and acknowledges their need to take a break from their responsibilities. The first verse sets the tone of the song, with the singer apologizing for falling asleep and noticing their loved one's weariness. Through the chorus, they encourage their loved one to come to them and take a break but also to detour from their routines and enjoy the moment with them.
The second verse reiterates the singer's understanding and urges their loved one to rely on them to handle the rest of the worries. Finally, the bridge gives a sense of urgency, asking their loved one to hurry home and embrace them tightly. Overall, "Okaeri" is a touching and empathetic plea for rest and comfort.
