Double THumb (aka Val Del Prete) is a singer/songwriter/producer from London. She taught herself how to play the piano at 3 years of age, and wrote her first song at 6.
โIt was in A minor, I remember, although back then I didnโt know it was in A minor. it was a ballad, and horribly sadโ she laughs.
Fast forward two decades and the young lady was standing in a room packed with academic professors, discussing her dissertation for her Phd. Not a Phd in music, but a Phd in theoretical neuroscience.
โI donโt think I had the courage to take a risk and follow my real passion until I got older. I was too scared of failing and of being hurt. Of my teen years I just remember the fear, the lack of confidence, the temptation of putting myself in a bubble so that nobody could see me and judge me. I found that bubble in the world of scientific laws. I could sit down and work out equations and everything looked more rigorous and โsecureโโ.
It could not last for long. By 2004, and 2 years after she relocated to London from her native country, Italy, Val gradually felt there were creative and emotional parts of herself she had neglected for too long. Within a few months she gave up her science job, put up some basic recording equipment and started making music.
โMany people thought I was crazy or deluded, which is understandable. In reality it took me a long time to make such a decision. The thing is I LOVE making music. I donโt really care about fame, thatโs not my goal. I just love creating music because itโs in there that I express the darkest sides of me. Itโs a need.โ
Double THumb just released her debut album "Nocturne" to excellent reviews by radio presenter and established producers alike. Several tracks have already been played on BBC Radio 6, XFM, OnFM and Radio Jade in Germany.
REVIEWS
"With its dreamlike harp arpeggios and wispy, discordant synth lines "Nocturne" takes no prisoners right from the get-go. Although supposedly a demo, the production is fresher and more original than 95% of the mundane nonsense churned out by "professional" studios and labels these days. The orchestration is expert yet sparse, the percussion startling yet understated, the vocal performances beautifully poised... Suffice it to say this is possibly the most assured debut recording I've heard by a UK artist since "The Wizard" by Bat For Lashes. "
(Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6)
"..a very beautiful/chic/absorbing performance"

I remember my sister having this exact type of cyst in the same spot on her back and while my mum was extracting it my sis look down at my bare feet and told me to wash my feet cause they stink and i told her that smell wasn't coming from my feet ๐คฃ she was horrified that smell was coming out of her.. and just like you were saying she later had it surgically removed but it grew back (obviously they didn't remove the whole sack) she had it surgically removed again 2 years after that and now she has a scar and dent in her back... i also also recommend wear a hair cap aswell if you're gonna wear a shield mask.. you definitely don't want it in your hair
@Huevine
Thank you so much ๐ฅฐ My grandma had a dent, it was a hack job ๐ฉ
@fifietlili
Thanks for the story and advice
I really hope Your Sisters better now

Man that cyst was like a geyser. Yes!I certainly want to see the whole thing. Break up the procedure in various videos. As many parts as it takes to show the whole episode. By the way, thanks. I certainly enjoyed it.
@TheChosenMoose01
If you don't mind me asking, could you say what it smells like?

I guess I kinda have to call myself a โpopaholicโ lol, and I watch a lot of these types of videos. I must say that I love watching this channels videos because she explains whatโs happening, what isnโt shown (for time restraints, or whatever reason), and is so personable! Also, because of this channel, I FINALLY understand why it seems like a lot of the videos show them leaving a lot of the cysts, abscesses, etc unfinished! It probably should have been common sense lol, but estheticians canโt get everything out because they canโt do surgery style openings to get the whole sack! Duh, Julie! Lol. ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ. But it was explained here nicely!
@MaizeAndBlue94
Its an epidermoid cyst (aka epidermal inclusion cyst). Unfortunately it is likely to regrow if all the cyst wall was not removed. Given all the teaching hospitals in the area, I find it hard to believe that he really couldn't find a competent dermatologist or even an experienced family practitioner to remove it under local anesthesia with little or no aftercare required, and minimal scarring. This cyst wasn't inflamed or infected so it would have been a simple procedure to do.
@Katie2986
Itโs really not surprising, itโs very difficult to find help for dermatological issues regardless of where one is; the fact that it wasnโt infected would make it even harder.
@Huevine
He doesnโt trust Drs. I fully explained it in the video the reason why he came to me. They told him it was a blackhead or something insignificant like that.
