It was initially reported that Mr. Bramhall may have died as a result of complications from pneumonia. One of his final North Texas performances was at 2011's Main St. Fort Worth Arts Festival. He was scheduled to perform Nov. 26 at the Granada Theater, with support from Fort Worth's Quaker City Night Hawks.
As a boy, Doyle Bramhall would jam in the family garage with local children, including the future ZZ Top guitarists Billy Gibbons (lead), and Dusty Hill (bass). While in high school, Bramhall joined The Chessmen with Jimmie Vaughan. The group opened for Jimi Hendrix when Hendrix played Dallas.
In 1969, Bramhall moved to Austin and formed Texas Storm with Jimmie Vaughan. In the 1970s, Bramhall formed The Nightcrawlers with Marc Benno, which also included Jimmie Vaughan's younger brother Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar. While in The Nightcrawlers, Bramhall co-wrote the tune "Dirty Pool," which appeared on Stevie Ray Vaughan's debut album, Texas Flood. He would write or co-write several other songs for the younger Vaughan, such as "Life By The Drop" from SRV's The Sky Is Crying album, and he played the drums on the Vaughan Brothers first and final album, Family Style.
Bramhall released his debut solo record in 1994, which included appearances from the Vaughans and his own son, Doyle Bramhall II. He also collaborated with Jennifer Warnes in the 1990s. In the 2000s, he signed with Yep Roc Records and has released two albums on that record label. Bramhall's album Is It News was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2008 in the genre of best contemporary blues album.

Hey, I know the reason why
Well, I know you don't love me
Baby, I know the reason why
Well, you take all of my money
And you treat me like a child
Like a little child
Well, now the woman I love
Baby, done been here and gone
Well, now the woman I love
Well, done been here and gone
Well, now if things don't change
You know I ain't gonna be here long
Be here long
I ain't gonna be here long
Ain't gonna be here long
I ain't gonna be here long
Ain't gonna be here long
I ain't gonna be here long
Ain't gonna be here long
I ain't gonna be here long
Ain't gonna be here long
I ain't gonna be here long
Ain't gonna be here long
She's gone, she's gone, she's gone
She's gone boy, she's gone, she's gone
For long, how I miss ya, baby
She's gone
Oh, my baby's gone, she's gone
I'm ain't gonna be here long
Well, I'm leaving my baby
And I really don't want to go
Well, I'm leaving my baby
And I really don't want to go
Well, she got her another man
And, she don't want me no more
She, don't want me no more
She, don't want me no more
It's alright, it's alright, boy
It's alright, it's alright, alright
Alright, it's alright, babe
Yeah hey, it's alright, darling
The song "She's Gone" by Doyle Bramhall deals with the pain of a failing relationship, where the singer is aware that his partner doesn't love him and only takes his money. He sings "I know the reason why" meaning that the reasons for the women's behavior are not a mystery to him but this awareness doesn't alleviate the pain. The woman he loves has left him for another man, leaving him feeling like a child, helpless and vulnerable. He tries to come to grips with the fact that he is no longer the priority in her life and has to face the reality of moving on. The repetition of the chorus line "She's gone" reinforces the feeling of loss and emptiness.
The song's lyrics are relatable, as it captures the raw emotions that come with heartbreak in a truthful and honest way. The simplicity of the song's structure helps the lyrics stand out, with the repetition of the chorus delivering the message of loss in a compelling way. The song's slow tempo, use of guitar, and bluesy feel create a sense of melancholy, and the deep vocals provide a raw and emotional edge to the piece.
