Dr. K started djing back in 1987. Born in Rio de Janeiro his work took him all over Brazil. He has worked as a producer and remixed for many Brazilian artists. His international career began in 1995 when for two consecutive summers he threw Brazilian parties around Ibiza and Formentera in Spain famous music playground, since then Dr. K continues enjoying the loyalty of German, Italian and Canadian audiences alike.
His love and respect for music has got him into a deep research about all things retro from both the Brazilian and Latin music scene. For the last 5 years he's the only 'Carioca' (native from Rio) DJ who holds a packed weekly residence dedicated to these rare grooves from the 60's and 70's. His unique set is filled with the best of Afro-Brazilian, Brazilian Jazz, Sambalanço, Bossa Nova and Brazilian Funk & Soul music. Most of it he gathered from rare vinyl’s, mixed with his own tracks and friends' productions.
In 1998 Dr.K kicked off his career as a producer working with a variety of music ranging from Bossa Nova and Samba to the coolest Brazilian Drum'n'Bass music.
SwingSamba Lounge - Dr.K debut, is therefore the result of the past 7 years of research and passion for the 60’s & 70’s on an album that can only be describe as a true dancefloor filler, believe us, we’ve tried it the world over from clubs in London and Rio all the way to Tokyo.
After the worldwide success of SwingSambaLounge which got Lucio K aka Dr.K appraisal from such masters as Senor Coconut, he is back; this time under codename DJ LK with his brand new album Misturada.
This album sees Lucio K bravely evolve into his own compositions without parting from the dancefloor feel of his SwingSambaLounge album.
This is Brazilian Electronic music!
There is a genuine retro background right through the album backed up by all the very diverse brazilian rhythms such as Bossa Nova, Samba or even Samba-Rock. But no need to be Brazilian to have a good time with this album as Funk, Soul, Breakbeat, Drum'n'Bass and even House music melt in to his compositions which create your feel-good album of the year!

Now I gotta post it
Burn it down, put it right
I'm going down, go to sleep now
Working like a ghost
Now I gotta post it
Burn it down, put it right
I'm going down, go to sleep now
Burn it down, put it right
I'm going down, go to sleep now
She gotta get it straight no matter
Burn it down, put it right
I'm going down, go to sleep now
Working like a ghost
Now I gotta post it
Burn it down, put it right
I'm going down, go to sleep now
Working like a ghost
Now I gotta post it
Burn it down, put it right
I'm going down, go to sleep now
She gotta get it straight no matter
Burn it down, put it right
I'm going down, go to sleep now
She gotta get it straight no matter
Burn it down, put it right
I'm going down, go to sleep now
In these lyrics, Dr.K seems to be describing the intense and relentless nature of his work, likening it to that of a ghost. The repeated phrase "Working like a ghost" suggests that he is tirelessly putting in effort and dedication into his tasks, perhaps feeling unseen or unnoticed like a ghost. The sense of urgency is heightened with the line "Now I gotta post it," indicating that he has something important to share or complete.
The repeated lines "Burn it down, put it right" could symbolize a process of destruction and rebuilding, of tearing down old structures to create something new and improved. This could represent Dr.K's approach to his work, where he is willing to let go of the past in order to make things better in the present. The idea of "going down" and "going to sleep now" may hint at the exhaustion and weariness that comes with working so intensely, suggesting that he is ready to rest and recharge after giving his all.
The mention of "She gotta get it straight no matter" could imply that there are external expectations or pressures on Dr.K, possibly from someone else ("She"), to ensure that everything is done correctly and efficiently. This additional stress could be weighing on him as he continues to work tirelessly. The repetition of "Burn it down, put it right" reinforces the theme of transformation and renewal, as Dr.K strives to make things right despite the challenges he faces.
Overall, these lyrics paint a picture of someone who is working diligently, almost invisibly, to achieve their goals. The metaphor of a ghost suggests a sense of detachment or isolation, yet the determination to keep pushing forward and getting things done no matter the obstacles. The repeated phrases and urgent tone convey a sense of urgency and intensity in Dr.K's work ethic, highlighting the dedication and drive that fuels his actions.
