… Read Full Bio ↴Dr Meaker is Clive Meaker, 28. 17/01/1980. shoe size: 8 and a half.
Bristol’s very own Mark Ronson uses soul, jazz and reggae influences to produce the Meaker sound. A sound of sublime vocals and ruff-cut bass licks that feels as at home on commercial radio, as it does at underground clubs.
Dr Meaker's debut album 'A Lesson From The Speaker' has been 3 years in the making and features collaborations with vocalist Yolanda Quartey who's currently cutting records with Massive Attack. Meaker’s master blending sees him sampling The Korgis Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime on the track Need Love. This is just one of the great surprises in store as you journey through the album.
If the success of the soft release of the debut single Moving And Grooving is anything to go by, the recent single Bad Boy Calling, with its cheeky reggae beat, is sure to get people head-bopping as they’re waiting for the bus. Bad Boy Calling is available in seven different mixes from the likes of Rob Smith, , False Flag and more.
Enjoy!

We're not waiting, we're not waiting, we're not waiting
Together we grow and we know
That we're ready, yeah we're ready, we are ready
When the sun goes down
When the freaks come out
When the sun goes down
We'll be rocking this all night
Letting go in the moon light
Feel that rhythm is on time
Who we are, we are
We'll be rocking this all night
Won't be going till sun light
Feel that rhythm is on time
Who we are, we are
Who we are, we are
We won't let the love come down
With every step we take to higher ground
The street lights will lead the way
And when night comes, the music will take us away
When the sun goes down
Is when the freaks come out
When the sun goes down
When the freaks come out
When the sun goes down
When the freaks come out
When the sun goes down
We'll be rocking this all night
Letting go in the moon light
Feel that rhythm is on time
Who we are, we are
We'll be rocking this all night
Won't be going till sun light
Feel that rhythm is on time
Who we are, we are
We got to let go, and we know
That we're ready, yeah we're ready, we are ready
The lyrics of Dr Meaker's song "Freaks" featuring Cappo D & Sharlene Hector talks about letting go of inhibitions, embracing oneself, and being ready to have a good time. The phrase "we're not waiting" suggests a sense of impatience to get the party started and to immerse oneself in the rhythmic sounds that bring joy and happiness. The repetition of "when the sun goes down" and "when the freaks come out" highlights the idea of being oneself, being unique, and owning the moment. The phrase "we won't let the love come down" may connote the idea of keeping the energy and vibe of the party going strong.
The song encourages listeners to embrace their true selves and celebrate life to the fullest. The idea of "letting go in the moonlight" is a poetic way of saying that people should free themselves of worries and embrace the moment. The lines "feel that rhythm is on time," symbolizes the importance of music in bringing people together and making them feel united. In summary, the song is about celebrating life and enjoying every moment with loved ones.
