Overall Meaning

The Japanese song "Solve" by Dream ("ドリーム") talks about the joy of missing someone and reminiscing on past memories of meeting that person. The lyrics refer to the feeling of forgetting that joy amidst the fear of familiar things and past hurts. The song opens with the line "The joy of having someone to see, I had forgotten somewhere" showing how the singer has forgotten the pleasure of anticipating meeting someone. Even though everyone knows the fear that comes with getting close to someone, the singer wants to understand this reality better through meeting the person they long to see. The line "When people realize they are still walking, surely there is something there," shows how the singer feels that there must be something good just ahead if they keep walking.

The lyrics also suggest that while the singer is yearning to find the person they want to see, they are still young and lack experience. "Sunaosa ga tarinai watashi ni" ("I cannot match the dryness of the world") indicates that despite the dreams they hold on to, they are not fully equipped to deal with the reality of the world. The song ends with a promise to not forget the joy of yearning and hoping to see that person again. With the line, "I promise from this place that I won't finish this dream," the singer makes a commitment to hold on to that joy regardless of the fears or past hurts.
