1)The Dream Warriors … Read Full Bio ↴There are two artists known as Dream Warriors:
1)The Dream Warriors are King Lou and Capital Q (aka The Quiet Storm), a pair of Toronto, Canada-based alternative rappers.
2) A metal band from Honduras.
1) They formed in 1988 and released the jazz rap LP And Now, the Legacy Begins in 1991, which was critically acclaimed and sold well in Canada and the United Kingdom. The album spawned the hit single "My Definition of a Boombastic Jazz Style", which featured a prominent sample of Soul Bossa Nova by Quincy Jones which originally appeared on his 1962 LP Big Band Bossa Nova and was also the theme music to the Canadian game show Definition.
The 1994 follow-up, Subliminal Simulation, received mixed reviews, and has since been forgotten by some and named a cult favourite by others; it featured guest vocals by Ishmael Butler of Digable Planets (on the track "Tricycles and Kittens"), and Guru and DJ Premier contributed to two different versions of the song called "I've Lost My Ignorance (and Don't Know Where To Find It").
Their most recent album, 1997's The Master Plan, was poorly received and did not sell well, but they made an appearance in 1999 for The Herbaliser on the track "Road of Many Signs."

My definition of a boombastic jazz style
Here we go, are you ready for one other?
Dream Warriors' noise is new discover all
Once again with a new blend, so telephone a friend
(Yo, dude, I just got this new song, it's dope man)
Fans or friends, I'm universally cosmic
Concrete jungles abound
Stand by the speakers
You're smothered and covered up in the sound
You stand strong, as you pump your fist
I'm talkin' all that jazz
Now, what's my definition?
My definition, my definition
My definition is this
My definition, my definition, my definition
My definition is this
My definition, my definition is this, my definition
When I kick rhymes, there's somethin' said to do damage
Skin so strong, even Superman needs a hand
So bob your head-dread, as I kick the funk flow
This rhyme is subliminal, yet, you don't think so
I walk with a gold cane, a gold brain, and no gold chain
Behind the truth lies, there lies a para fix
In the mix is where Dream Warriors go
Define if you will but I know so, there is no definition
My definition, my definition
My definition is this
My definition, my definition, my definition
My definition is this
My definition, my definition is this, my definition
Rhyme, though I know it's a flow, it's just like a poet
Your definition of me is definitely wrong
Why must I try to lie and build an alibi?
When all you ask is just for me to be me
Replace a replaceable, replacement with this
Relax, relax, relaxation boombastic
My name is King Lu
(Mine is Capital Q)
Bags of mostly water search to find my definition
My definition, my definition, my definition
My definition is this
(My definition)
My definition, my definition, my definition
My definition is this
My definition, my definition is this, my definition
I sought beauty through the dust of strife
I sought meaning to my music addiction
Arise, awaken, we have need to re
A plague has befallen us, no time to rehearse
This rhyme speaks, it's speakin', has spoken
This rhyme will not change things
It needs to be changed in a hearse
You find caskets in my rhyme baskets of rhyme
Your definition can define, then, what's my definition?
My definition, my definition
My definition is this
(My definition)
My definition, my definition, my definition
My definition is this
My definition, my definition is this, my definition
Yo, where'd everybody go?
Dream Warriors' song "My Definition of a Boombastic Style" is a commentary on the blending of musical genres, and the difficulty in defining a particular style or sound. The song begins with the line "What the fuck is this?" which sets the tone for the exploration of the ambiguity and complexity of musical genres. The next line, "My definition of a boombastic jazz style," introduces the idea of a fusion of jazz and hip-hop, which is the main theme of the song.
The verses that follow describe the experience of listening to music, specifically in a loud and immersive environment such as a concert or club. The singer describes feeling "smothered and covered up in the sound," and urges the listener to "stand by the singers."
Later, the lyrics become more introspective, with the singer discussing their own approach to music and the challenge in defining themselves and their sound. They reject the idea of being limited by a particular genre or definition and instead advocate for a fluid and open-minded approach to music.
Overall, the song is a celebration of the power and diversity of music, and a call to embrace the variety of sounds and styles that exist.

When rap was FUN, back in the old school days!
@CANControlGRAFFITI
It’s called hip-hop and it’s still dope as hell! Look up the allergies with Andy Cooper (from ugly ducking as if you didn’t know!)
@olaakinlade4362
Rap IS FUN
@johnrobinson7148
It used to be fun..90s was gold..hip hop these days leaves me cold
@smokexxhash
Lol its still fun but how old are you 40+? I've noticed it's like a separation in hip hop between younger generations and those born in the 80s and earlier
@larry8910
I feel like this should be way more popular. I’m 33 years old and have always been into hip hop of all eras. Yet I only heard this today for the first time through somebody’s random request on the radio. Instantly loved it.
@shellz1141
This was very very popular. Esp in Canada where the "My Definition" part hits.
