Dwight Yoakam & Flaco Jimenez Lyrics

I hear Mariachi static on my radio
And the tubes they glow in the dark
And I'm there with her in Ensenada
And I'm here in Echo Park

Carmelita hold me tighter
I think I'm sinking down
And I'm all strung out on heroin
On the outskirts of town

Well, I'm sittin' here playing solitaire
With my pearl-handled deck
The county won't give me no more methadone
They cut off your welfare check

Well, I pawned my Smith-Corona
And I went to meet my man
He hangs out down on Alvarado Street
By the Pioneer chicken stand

[Chorus: x2]

One of my favorite Zevon songs. This is with out a doubt the best version. Dwight & Flaco own it.

Nash Burnette

This is good, but Warren Zevon's
original is definitely the best version.
Linda Ronstadt does a great cover too.

''Live n Learn''

OMG I first heard it on an LP by a Canadian folk singer Murray McLauchlan in the early 70's...later saw Kris and Rita Coolidge perform it in a concert in Lubbock TX. this is an awesome rendition.

Sultan Vinegar

This song is fantastic, flaco can perform magic with his accordion. He and Dwight are great together.   I have actually been to the "pioneer" chicken stand on Alvarado and on Sunset blvd.  Thanks for posting this....
